Is anyone applying to CSUN's ABSN program (2014 cohort)??? I know their application deadline is coming up but the info on their website is out of date and there's no application available on the site. I tried contacting the department via email and phone but no response/answer. Anyone having better luck applying than me?
i just got accepted to summer 2014!!! i was a fall alternate, but so many people dropped out for summer already that they are reaching into the fall alternates and offering them spots!!! i am trying to see if i can get into fall still becuause i am still in school taking my last pre-req until june, but if i cant, i will see you all for summer!
Hi all - I've been lurking for a bit but am finally posting! I was accepted to fall cohort and will attend orientation Friday. I called the office today with some questions and asked about location of orientation; I was told 2523 Jacaranda Hall. I live in West Hollywood and am not looking forward to the commute to the Valley, but I'm going to try to make the most of it (by listening to NCLEX audio reviews, I think!).
Hi! I am currently an undergrad and have done a lot of research for ABSN programs. I am looking towards CSUN's ABSN program and was wondering if you guys can give me a general acceptance stats for CSUN ABSN. I have read a few other posts that a GPA under a 3.8 is still possible to gain a spot at CSUN ABSN program. Please let me know if you guys have gained admission in their program and are willing to share your stats including work experience, etc.
you can get in with under a 3.8 just make up for it with medical experience. CSUN is all about diversity. People with higher GPAs and more experience didn't get in over others who did not have all of that. They want diversity so bring whatever you can to the table. They like bachelors from all different areas and just a really powerful story of why you want to be a nurse.
I agree, a GPA of under 3.8 does not exclude you from being considered into the program. I had a 3.67 from my previous degree, 4.0 from prerequisites, and zero volunteer experience but was able to get into the program. A strong, narrative essay depicting your story about why you want to become a nurse is really important in the selection process. Good luck!
I had a 3.3 gpa from undergrad, not a 4.0 in prereqs, had a lot of health care experience as a research coordinator over the past couple of years and am in cohort 15 so regardless of what you've heard or read you DO NOT need high GPAs to get in. With that being said, they do like high GPAs so if you don't have experience to back up your reasoning for wanting to be in that program, you probably don't have a good shot of getting in. I was also a science major in my undergrad. Our cohort is super diverse so don't let anyone tell you that you have to meet certain criteria to get in. I literally think we all wondered how we got picked from the pool so don't underestimate your possibilities.
