I also keep checking the website for updates but haven't seen any. Based on last year's forums I'm sure they will update info soon since they start accepting applications Oct. 1st.

Has anyone heard any updates? I am thinking of applying as well, for the fall 2014 class. I know it's due November 30, so I better get on it! I am currently taking A&P I, chemistry, and a religion class and have A&P II left to take for the prerequisites. Does anyone know what the "critical thinking" prerequisite requires (examples of the names of courses that are acceptable). Thanks guys and good luck!

Hello everyone,

Last min I've decided to apply for the A-BSN. It looks like the latest application is the newest and the one for the Summer 2014/ Fall 2014. I am a little confused on what class is acceptable for the "Written Communication." I looked into assist.org to see what classes from the ones I have taken but none of the "Communications" class came up. In fact it mentioned classes that are not even listed on the application. Does anyone have a clue?

Also, my chem class is beyond 7 years old and I can not find no where saying in progress work is accepted. I am going to take it this Spring Semester at a jr. college. Does anyone know if in progress classes are accepted?

I believe in progress are accepted but saying you'll take it next semester isn't in progress and isn't accepted or will severely lower your chances. All prerequisites completed will give you the highest probability of being a candidate for admission.

Hey Everyone! I am applying for the Summer 2014 cohort and I am in the process of finishing up both the app to the actual school through the CSUmentor website and finishing up the actual app for the ABSN program.

Does anyone out there know what classes are acceptable to transfer from the UC system, specifically for the Written Communications and Basic Statistics category? I took 3 quarters of lower division writing and 1 quarter of upper division writing and I took 3 quarters of probability and statistics at UC Irvine in my undergrad.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey MMPad987-

In regards to work in progress classes, I THINK they will accept your application but they base the applications on a point system. If you have completed all of the prerequisite classes, the higher your points will be meaning that they better your chances are to actually getting into the program.

I am applying at the last minute! I have one letter of rec. and i need one more. Any suggestions from strong people. I had my supervisor do one for me in my hospital department (employer option of letter of rec.) but I am wondering if a professor would be a better suit than another employer (primary clinic). any suggestions or what did you do.? How tough is it getting? I have pretty good grades but now that I see 4.0's everywhere I feel like I will never get in a single program. my pre req's are at a 3.4 and I just dont know. I have lots of community and patient experience and in a MPH program but just would like to apply a nursing program because that is something I really would like to do. My undergrad GPA is a 3.68. Any idea how tough, should I even bother?

I've been trying to contact someone, emailed using the [email protected] and still have not heard from anyone. Has anyone attending the info session or plan to? There is one this coming Sat from 9am-10 am. Its the last one before the deadline. If,you have attended the info session, do they answer a lot of your questions?

miketbp... What do you have to lose? Just give it a try. If you are meant to get in, you will. In regards of how tough is it to get in. I am not sure. I have a co-worker of mine who go into the program 2 years ago but she had just graduated from CSUN, so that could have helped. She ended up dropping out because of the fast pace but she says she wished she had stayed. She got her A.S. in Nursing and now the hospital is gonna require all nurses to have a BSN by 2015, so that means more schooling. Just do it. :)

I went to an information session last summer. This program is very competitive to get in. The average prerequisite GPA is about 3.8. As of last summer they had approximately 400 applications for 38-40 spots in each cohort. Admission is all about the points system. You get points for grades in each pre-req (As get more points than Bs etc), volunteer work, CNA certification etc. The key is to maximize your points. If you have prerequisites in progress you will get less points which will impact your chances of acceptance. The program is extremely fast paced and you are encouraged to not have any outside work or commitments. Attend an information session if you can. It is pretty much the only way (that I have found) to get questions answered.

Hey, Despite how competitive it is to get in I did apply. my pre requisite is not close to 3.8 though. I just hope my experience and other classes of my application can adjust for that.
