CSULB Nursing Interview Fall 2011!!!

Published

Hello! I'm new to allnurses.com and I hope I can fit in with you guys :D:redbeathe

I'm surprised that no one else has started a thread about CSU Long Beach's nursing interview for Fall 2011! The Interviews begin next week and isn't anyone out there as nervous as I am! I live in Norcal so the long drive down to Long Beach, will hopefully be well worth it!

I have only gathered small bits and pieces of information about the interview for CSULB and if you guys would like to share what you know with me; that would help a lot.

From previous threads on nursing Fall 2010 >> https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/csu-long-beach-452445.html

Did u get high TEAS scores?

not really overall 82.9 and math 84.4

I got the same call today. I asked others that were filling out applications what it was all about, and apparently because of budget cuts long beach isn't taking transfer students again. I didn't know that the budget cuts were that severe still!

Wait REALLY?! I'm a transfer student so I am kind of freaking out right now. They're not accepting ANY transfer students at all??

How can that be? Why would they even interview transfer students in the first place if they aren't going to take them? Who told you that?

I'm planning on calling the nursing office tomorrow morning to get this all figured out. I will definitely let you guys know what is going on as soon as I find out.

That's what I was told from the other students turning in applications. I wouldn't take my word for it. I'd call the office to see what's going on.

jsoriano have you been interviewed yet? and if you have did they tell you when they are going to post up the results?

I'm sorry but I can't help but feel really angry about this whole thing. I just called the office today & told them that I was being forced to accept or decline today another BSN program & they told me to continue to be patient while waiting which meant that I had to decline another BSN offer.....If they knew they wouldn't consider my application anymore, they should have let me know so I had the chance to accept another BSN offer. It's one thing if they just suddenly found out that funding didn't go through and they can't accept external transfers, but it is another and borders deceit when they continue to tell us to be patient and wait for a decision assuring us we are being carefully considered while they secretly recruit at the last minute another applicant pool and nursing cohort class with the rest of us being left out in the dark. I've already lost out on being able to go to 2 other BSN programs b/c I am trying to be patient w/ the CSULB decision. Now if this is correct and they are not taking external transfers, there's a good chance that I will not be able to attend any program this Fall.

I am just as upset. I actually got an acceptance letter to SDSU today and I think I will accept a spot in their program since LB is taking so long. Since LB is my top choice I will probably pick LB over SDSU if I end up getting in. It is not fair that at the last second they decide to do this, they should have informed transfer students WAYYY before the interview process so we wouldn't be counting on getting in.

Also, someone was telling me this is similar to what happened to students who applied Spring 2011. Does anyone know about their situation? It might be possible to predict what will happen with our Fall 2011 admittance if we learn about a past occurrence.

I have not been interviewed, and I was told I would find out in a few weeks. I would be upset too. It's definitely not fair to keep you guys waiting! Especially when you have other offers. I do not understand why they will not say anything if they do not plan on taking transfers. I know this has happened before, but I thought it was a known fact that they would not be accepting transfer students. Congrats on SDSU LoveLikeWoe, I'd say you should accept the spot if Long Beach keeps prolonging the situation. I think that Long Beach just found out about the budget cuts. I couldn't imagine that they'd go through interviews knowing that funds would be too low for transfer students.

LoveLikeWoe,

I also got an acceptance letter from SDSU. Since they told me to reply within 48 hours, I just told them I would accept my spot just in case. I was wondering if it is possible to decline admission to SDSU if by any chance I could get in CSULB. Like you, LB is still my top choice. How did you reply to the email?
