Hello! I'm new to allnurses.com and I hope I can fit in with you guys :redbeathe
I'm surprised that no one else has started a thread about CSU Long Beach's nursing interview for Fall 2011! The Interviews begin next week and isn't anyone out there as nervous as I am! I live in Norcal so the long drive down to Long Beach, will hopefully be well worth it!
I have only gathered small bits and pieces of information about the interview for CSULB and if you guys would like to share what you know with me; that would help a lot.
From previous threads on nursing Fall 2010 >> https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/csu-long-beach-452445.html

"The number of applicants who can be admitted is limited by space availability. It is anticipated that about 72 students will be admitted each Fall and Spring term from hundreds of applications." ---the last sentence
http://www.csulb.edu/colleges/chhs/departments/nursing/docs/NRSGBS01_Brochure-Spring2012.pdf
This is a link to the most recent brochure, Spring 2012. On the 3rd page under "Notification of Admission" it says 90 students so I don't think 72 is the correct number...that page could be out of date.
If you are really worried you should call the nursing office and ask just to ease your mind. The stress of waiting to find out is enough without the added worry that the amount of accepted applicants might be decreasing.
Either way, there is nothing you can do but wait. You already tried as hard as you could on your pre-reqs and TEAS test to get to this point so stressing will do nothing to help you. (Easy to say, I know, I'm stressing too!)
These next few weeks will FLY by :)
Yeah, I'm proud of how well I ended up doing, I worked very hard and slaved away studying for my pre-reqs. I won't be relieved until I see an acceptance letter though.
I am planning on doing the Basic semester program. Although I know many people want to do the trimester program to finish nursing school faster and get out into the real world to start working as soon as possible, I do not think trimester is that much of an advantage. I just turned 20 a few weeks ago so I am fine with the fact that I will graduate when I am 23 rather than 22.
What about everyone else, basic or trimester?
Hey Lovelikewoe! I would rather do the basic program now that I realized for the trimester there is only 2 weeks off out of the whole year. Granted, you get out one year earlier so more time to find a job after graduating...but I already planned a cruise next summer...soooo...But anyways!
Wow so just to clarify, are we waiting until the end of April for the results?? Or is it coming soon this week? I just found out I got rejected from CSU Channel Islands nursing program. I'm pretty bummed:crying2: Need some good news this week.
And they're now accepting 72 instead of 90 people?! That's insane! There are way more applicants, and much more qualified and they're shrinking the acceptance pool. I realized I don't really have a plan B if nursing school falls through, I'm starting to panic!
As you will see in one of my previous posts, the most current nursing school pamphlet for those applying to April 2012 states 90. The number 72 was found somewhere off the nursing website so until I see official proof email or announcement from the program that they are changing the number of admitted students I'm going to stick to 90.
Also, to answer your question about when we will hear, no one knows. It is my understanding we will hear by April 28th but I guess it could possibly be earlier.
Hey guys I applied for the spring 2011 cohort and got rejected. i got like an 8.6 or something like that. So I decided to not apply for the fall 2011. Instead I applied to CSULA. BUT this morning I got a call from the nursing department asking for me to fill out an application so that they can set up an interview with me. Any ideas on as to why this would happen? I have friends who already got rejection letter and I see that you guys had interviews a month ago. I know the app was due Feb 15th! Don't get me wrong I'm thrilled that they called me and asked for me to apply. I'd love to attend CSULB nursing program and was heartbroken when I was rejected for the spring. But I just don't get why me??

They will post the list whenever it is done; when I called last Friday April 8th, the girl told me it will be up in three weeks and that "they" (whoever that is) hadn't even met yet to discuss the final 90. So hopefully April 29th at the LATEST!
The list will be up to see if you go to CSULB but will not be online. If you find out the list is posted you can call the nursing office and have whoever answers the phone check to see if your name is on it or what alternate number you are.
Hope that helps!
