CSULB Nursing Interview Fall 2011!!!

Published

Hello! I'm new to allnurses.com and I hope I can fit in with you guys :D:redbeathe

I'm surprised that no one else has started a thread about CSU Long Beach's nursing interview for Fall 2011! The Interviews begin next week and isn't anyone out there as nervous as I am! I live in Norcal so the long drive down to Long Beach, will hopefully be well worth it!

I have only gathered small bits and pieces of information about the interview for CSULB and if you guys would like to share what you know with me; that would help a lot.

From previous threads on nursing Fall 2010 >> https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/csu-long-beach-452445.html

Congrats to everyone who got a call today! I am SO excited because I got one and accepted my position at CSULB (so if anyone is an alternate at SDSU you can have my spot :) )

This is random but has anyone heard about the scheduling at CSULB? I talked to someone at the interview who is a current student and they said you don't get to pick your schedule, that it actually gets GIVEN to you. I was wondering if anyone knows how this will affect clinicals and what-not. For example, I know at my community college you get to choose which hospital you want to do your clinicals at.

Is CSULB similar to that or do they assign to each student where they will do their clinicals? If so, is it varied or are you stuck at the same hospital?

Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer.

Also CONGRATS AGAIN to the 25 of us transfers who got in :) :) :)

I'm a little bit confused now. First off, congratulations Lovelikewoe! :w00t:

I'm surprised they already let you guys know that you were accepted. How come the ones that were interviewed during March now has to wait for their decision? Don't they mail out or let everyone know at the same time?

Secondly, why are they interviewing more people for the nursing school when they only accept 90 and interviewed 120 applicants?

CalStatePreNursing - assuming only 25 spots go to external transfers and all 25 of the CSULB students that applied were accepted, they are interviewing for the 40 spots available for CSULB pre-nursing students only. Yet because only 25 CSULB pre-nursing students applied for Fall '11 semester, CSULB nursing dept needs additional time to try contact CSULB students who applied earlier and were rejected in previous semesters. so that obviously will take time since these students did NOT apply nor interview for fall '11 semester. as far as the CSULB wait goes for external transfers, the wait may be over unless some of the 25 spots to external transfers are turned down (as in the case of mrgaylordfocker). thus, it makes sense that they are contacting the 25 accepted external transfers now b/c some may turn the spot down afterwhich CSULB will probably go down the original list (of 90 accepted students based on grades only) and offer spots accordingly. By april 29th, CSULB will have a better idea as to what the final list of external transfer acceptances will be like and post that list. The other 65 spots for only CSULB students may need to be decided later since they have to go through the entire application process for them.

Thank you so much, haha I was catching up with 8 pages worth of post and I got lost in the labyrinth of words.

Ok, so one last question 22flowers! haha, if we were interviewed back in March. It means we are either alternates or accepted right? We aren't rejected yet.

fyi - my previous posting is based on my understanding of all posts on this forum so far. so to all, please correct me if i am mistaken in any of it.

also, fyi i was NOT one of the 25 called today :( so i'm assuming the cutoff for the 25 external transfer acceptances was somewhere ABOVE 9.33 (my score), which makes sense since many of the 25 accepted today seem to be in the 9.6 range. good luck to all waiting to hear about the finalized 25 coveted spots!

25 transfer students accepted out of the 120 applicant pool and now they are interviewing past csulb student applicants...it doesn't look good for transfer students this year, but there is still hope. If they can't fill the 40 remaining spots with csulb students, maybe they will give it to transfer students...fingers crossed..

Ifonly, did I meet you at the CSULB nursing school interview?

hey CalStatePreNursing - i know. all the back & forth in this forum is definitely not typical...its just all of us trying to work together with the bits & pieces here and there that we receive from CSULB nursing dept to make sense of the insensible :)

So, assuming the 25 highest ranked applicants from the original 120 applicants brought in for an interview in march were accepted today, it's looking like there is a waitlist now of 95 students (less for each CSULB pre-nursing student who interviewed in March) for ONLY the 25 spots available AND given to external transfer students due to budget cuts. hope that makes sense :)

I'm sorta new to this place...how did u leave a message in my profile inbox. Yes we did...

i believe 22flowers pretty much explained it as well as it can be explained...

here's some hope....if Sac State makes a decision this week (they're supposed to make one on or before April 29th), there's a good chance that may open additional spots in the top 25 for external transfers since from those I met w/ at my interview in march & from what i'm hearing in the Sac State forum, i think alot of No. Cal CSULB applicants who may have been accepted at CSULB will be inclined to chose Sac State over CSULB which is more local to them. That is the case w/ me since I applied to both Sac State & CSULB but CSULB is my 1st choice b/c it is more local (i.e. cheaper) to me....I can live w/ my parents :)

thanks for sharing mrgaylordfocker. can you please share your stats so i can see what type of stats CSULB is accepting for the external transfers? good luck at SDSU!

thanks....my stats are:

Science prerequisites: 4.0

GE prerequisites: 3.7

Teas score: 91.2

Math score: 91

Good luck... I still need to get ahold of mona lisa so hopefully one of you will get a call tomorrow saying you got my spot
