Hello! I'm new to allnurses.com and I hope I can fit in with you guys :redbeathe
I'm surprised that no one else has started a thread about CSU Long Beach's nursing interview for Fall 2011! The Interviews begin next week and isn't anyone out there as nervous as I am! I live in Norcal so the long drive down to Long Beach, will hopefully be well worth it!
I have only gathered small bits and pieces of information about the interview for CSULB and if you guys would like to share what you know with me; that would help a lot.
From previous threads on nursing Fall 2010 >> https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/csu-long-beach-452445.html
I am so frustrated right now. My point is 9.8. I am a transfer. I changed my phone number but i left my new number at the interview day. I havent receive a phone call. Is there anyone know whether they post the list at the office yet? If they did, i can stop by and check this weekend. ( i read ur guys threads in Friday night)
Really? Come on, you have a 9.8 out of 10 your in dude! lol
Don't worry you all I have heard the lowest they take is 8.9, I think so. If you have 9 points or more your definitely in!
The thing is, being that at CSULB, they go all the way down to .00 you know? A person with a 8.91 v. 8.90, the 8.91 will get in, that is only a .01 difference!
Competition is fierce.
For all those who got an interview, unless you have less than 9 points your a shoe in! For those that got an interview, but don't get in, your more than likely an alternate. Which is better than being denied! Just wait, someone will drop out and an alternate will take their spot!
For all of those who don't make it in. It might be a blessing in disguise, maybe when you apply again and graduate the economy will [hopefully] be better and maybe you will have an easier time for a job! So don't rush, there is no shortage, don't think when you graduate in 2-3 years you will be handed a job!
Good Luck everyone!
ps. anyone who attends CSULB know if they are taking transfers for spring 2012? I know that the state budget is going to be worse this year than last because we didn't extend the tax thing?
if anyone knows, or finds out eventually, pm me yea? I am not applying for spring 2012 cause I have chem is progress but i am applying for fall 2012, which if they don't take transfers for spring then there is going to be even more applicants and more competition because the transfers will apply to the next application period.

where did you find out that the lowest score they're taking is 8.9?
Are you sure of that info?
My mistake, 8.94 was the last entry statistic for fall (2010, for example) but alternates that I know of got in with around a 8.9
If look at their statistics they post up, average is 9.2, but if you know anything about averages, you want to shoot higher than them, most of them are too low.

Check out CSULB pool of applicants for the past few years. The lowest ones are when no transfers are admitted and the most competitive is when you apply for fall.
As for the years when any spring transfers that were not allowed to apply until fall, that makes fall twice as competitive as usual, which is probably why fall 2010 was very competitive than fall 2009. This fall, it maybe inbetween since they did allow transfers for spring 2011.

I checked for the ELMSN list on Wednesday and nothing was posted for either that nor the BSN program. :/
