Hi everyone! As CSU applications open up, I wanted to start a thread for all of my fellow pre-nursing students looking to transfer to CSULB!

The first one I sent was an e-transcript so it was sent in about an hour but it still showed that they hadn’t received it. I emailed [email protected] and they were able to confirm they received it and updated my file.
Awesome, I'll check in with them tomorrow. Thank you!

Thank you so much!
I used the mometrix book and scored 89.3%!

Hi guys! I was wondering if I should be concerned that I wasn’t emailed to send transcripts? I submitted my cal state apply already but I thought we don’t submit official transcripts until the supplemental. I was planning on waiting until I have my micro grade completed although it’s looking like it’s gonna be an A so I’m not super worried. Based on that I was wondering if someone could provide insight into my chances?
TEAS reading: 87.2%
TEAS overall: 89.3%
science prerequisites: 4.0, could someone tell me if they count - and +? I got an A- in anatomy so if so my GPA would be 3.94.
ge GPA: 4.0
based on the equation in the forum I think my score is 9.49, with the 4.0 in science prerequisites then it would be 9.53.
Thanks!

Hi! I think you have a great chance of getting in! I don't think +/- affect your GPA, though I'm not completely sure. Did you calculate your GE GPA from your cumulative or just the required nursing GEs? (English, Psych, ect)
As for the transcripts, I called my counselors too and they said to wait until accepted to submit transcripts. They said those students are most likely applying to Spring 2021 and may have commented on the wrong thread.
Best of luck my friend!

Oh no, I still have to take micro in the Spring and I'm planning on applying for Fall 2021. Can you please share where the website states this? I assumed all CSU's would allow for you to apply with courses still in progress.
Nevermind I found it! Don't know what I'm going to do now! If you know any other CSU's that do this please let me know ?

You can have Micro in progress in Spring if you are applying for Fall! It's just that in order to create a point score to consider acceptance, they need to calculate the Science GPA, so they mark it down as a C. I'm only familiar with CSULB, I know Cal State Fullerton does the same thing for their ABSN but I don't l how about their traditional BSN requirements.

Dang, I have A's in all my other science classes so then if micro would be counted as a C since its going to be in progress my science GPA would be a 3.44. I highly doubt I would get in with that GPA...
Maybe I'll wait to apply till Spring 2022. I'm for sure applying to CSUBakersfield and CSUChico for Fall 2021. I was going to apply to CSUFresno too but I don't think they allow you to have any courses in progress either. I emailed them hopefully they get back to me.

That sucks! I'm trying to figure out how it would affect mine. In order to meet their Chem requirement, I have to take two Chem classes at my local Community College. I will be taking the second one in Spring. Because there is more units overall, it seems like it would affect my science GPA a little bit less; otherwise I would have a 4.0.
How are you all calculating your prereq GPA? With a specific set of classes, or whatever GPA you have at the school you are attending? I have a GPA from my community college when I got my AA, a different one for my BA, and then went back to the same CC to take science prerequisites plus spch101 and dev. Psych.

Thanks so much for clarifying the transcripts, I got worried when I read that hahah! I calculated the GE GPA off of the GE requirements (stats, oral communication, written communication, and critical thinking). I got As in all of those courses except I am planning on using an AP test score to cover the written communication, I’m assuming they would just not count that towards my GPA and only use the 3 courses instead? Let me know if you know anything about that! Will you also be applying for fall 2021? ?

I’m calculating my science GPA by using this website https://gpacalculator.net/college-GPA-calculator/ inserting the four major science classes: A in Chemistry (4 units), A in anatomy+lab (4 units), A in physiology+lab (5 units), and I inserted a C for Microbiology (5units) since it would be considered a C since it will be in progress. That all together put me at 3.44.
For my pre req GPA I’m counting (oral Comm, written Comm, stats, critical thinking). I don’t know my GPA for that yet since I’m barely going to finish a critical thinking class this semester.

Hi guys,
I was wondering if written communication, oral communication, critical thinking, HDEV 190 or PSY 110 or SOC 170 or STAT 108 or STAT 118, BIOL 207, BIOL 208, BIOL 201, and CHEM 140, are the only requirements for admission to basic BSN program?
