CSULB FALL 2020

Published

Hello. I wanted to create this forum for people who are applying to Cal State Long Beach for Fall 2020. This is a place where we can compare and discuss statistics between us, as well as ask questions regarding the program.

I would say ATI, uniforms, course textbooks, Castlebranch and required vaccinations etc. will be around $550 - $650. I remember ATI being a few hundred dollars by itself.

I am a textbook person myself and have purchased or rented every textbook thus far but honestly I hardly open the majority of them. There are a handful of books that are helpful to buy for CP or learning but the majority of information you will be tested on come from slides and lecture content. The only textbook I read cover to cover was the Critical Care one by Sole. A great book, would recommend.

Bottom line most textbooks that you "need" or will get use out of will be purchased first semester. After that there are many PDFs etc for free.

Hey there! Thanks for responding. I appreciate it so much. This is the breakdown of CSULA’s fees for everything.... let me know if this sounds similar to CSULB? I’m asking because I’m not sure if Nancy and yourself are missing a few things and that is why CSULB’s fees sound cheaper (550-650 is way less than 1700$), or if CSULA just has way more expensive stuff LOL. Let me know if this sounds accurate.

  • Lab coats - 40$
  • Uniforms (2 recommended) - 85$ x 2 = 170$
  • Fire class - 20$
  • Student - 20$
  • ATI - 809$ (plus tax
  • E-books - 287$
  • Student lab fee - 200$
  • Health tracker (castlebranch) - 133$
  • ID badges - 5$
  • Parking for orientation - 16$

Total = approximately 1700$ total.

plus tuition which is 3,385 per semester (for now but could raise slightly in the future).

Anyone have any contact info for director? Or others? Phone numbers would be great but email is OK right now too

Yeah sorry about that it has been a minute since I had to pay these fees. I looked at some old bank statements to try to include all costs and I would say ballpark everything you included will run you 1450 - 1700.

Gotcha. So LA and LB are the same cost essentially... except LB is 1 semester less. Thanks for the info !! ?

Check your self service account guys! Admission decisions are out. Congratulations to all!!

Hi! So I have a 4.0 cumulative GPA

3.93 is still pretty darn high though. I'm surprised you weren't offered admission.

@CocoaQueen where do you see it? Did you get the application status emailed to yourself?!

It's on CSULB's self service page. It doesn't send an email this time, but instead opens up to a new window that displays your admission status.

I did the self service email and was placed on the waitlist.

CSULA: Accepted

CSULB: Waitlisted

MSMU: Accepted

SAC STATE: ???

SONOMA STATE: DENIED

These are my current options

I HAVE BEEN OFFERED ADMISSION! I'm so excited!

I was accepted into CSULA and CSULB. ?

I am very conflicted on where I will accept admission. At first, I wanted to do LA... But now, after this whole coronavirus situation went down, I am completely out of work (I'm a massage therapist). That being said, I am afraid that even after all of this is said and done, people will still be afraid to get massages - making me partially or fully unemployed for some time. So I was thinking of possibly accepting admission to Long Beach so I could be done sooner? The sooner I become a nurse, the sooner I can start working again. Unless, of course, everything goes back to normal again... but at this rate, who knows ? what do yall think?

Do any current students know if we have to pay for anything by orientation at long beach? Or does anyone know when payment for things are due? I want to see if I get into trimester program at the orientation... but if not I will probably just go to LA.
