CSULB Fall 2014

Published

Hey everyone!

Did anyone else apply to CSULB for Fall 2014? The school app was due last Saturday, and then we have the month of January to submit for the School of Nursing.

Based on previous threads, it looks like we are invited to an interview about a month after the deadline, and the cutoff was ~9.1 points.

Here are my stats so we can see how we stand this year!

Science GPA: 3.58

GE GPA: 3.77

TEAS: 97.3

TEAS Math: 100

I think that works out to about 9.4 points... the average keeps rising each year, so it would be nice to see where we all fall!

Good luck everyone :)

If the pharm and pathophysiology books are the same, I would like to buy them. But I don't think we find out till August

books are posted under the bookstore website, just click the class you want and it should show the book! :)

I have the pharm book you will use and most definitely need, and I have the path book - if you have the teacher we had you won't need the book to be honest, I bought the old edition and didn't even use it. I will check back in closer to when you get your schedules!

also for some advice...when you get your schedule and the teachers start putting up the class schedule...I suggest for 200 - complete all your vocab that you will be tested on ahead of time when you have nothing to do. This will save you some stress through out the semester and it really helped

Also to add some words of encouragement for those who are Tri - don't let the "fast pace, intense" words scare you. You will do just fine, and a week is more than enough break to relax and enjoy time off. I actually enjoy it because you never come back rusty from break and retain a lot of information. Don't let anyone scare you...the content is the same and the teachers are the same, in fact a lot of our 250 class for summer was online because our teacher said we had too much time for what we needed to do. Summer session feels just like any other session. Plus, EPIC at LBMH is amazing and saves you a lot of time care planning, and as a bonus not only will you have your BSN but you will also be trained in the EPIC program which is a nice little resume booster.

aww thank you for the confidence boost! so nice to hear that its not nearly as bad as people have made it out to be. Thanks for the vocab tip! I'll def get it out of the way early!

Who is applying for spring 2015 ?

I'm in the fall 2014 program. I wish you luck applying for the spring!

Thank you and good luck to you too in the new chapter of your life . Which program did you choose traditional or trimester ? Do u know which one is better ?

I chose the trimester program. In the trimester program you stay in one hospital for clinicals (except for 4th semester pediatrics), and in basic they place you in different hospitals each semester. The trimester is also faster by a semester. I don't know how the spring entry will be since you have 2 summers throughout your nursing school. I chose the trimester cause I don't plan on working at all throughout this process, even in summer, so why not get it done quicker.

Thanks for the msg . Same here , Im not planning to work throughout the process either , is it easy to find housing there.

btw how was the interview ? Do u think is it hard to pass the interview ?

Thanks

The interview is a breeze. It's to make sure you are proficient in English, and have critical thinking skills. I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect. Housing is expensive on campus, im renting a room in a house off campus.

Please let us know how's the trimester program

I will. I'm excited, nervous, scared, all of the above haha.
