CSULB Fall 2014

Published

Hey everyone!

Did anyone else apply to CSULB for Fall 2014? The school app was due last Saturday, and then we have the month of January to submit for the School of Nursing.

Based on previous threads, it looks like we are invited to an interview about a month after the deadline, and the cutoff was ~9.1 points.

Here are my stats so we can see how we stand this year!

Science GPA: 3.58

GE GPA: 3.77

TEAS: 97.3

TEAS Math: 100

I think that works out to about 9.4 points... the average keeps rising each year, so it would be nice to see where we all fall!

Good luck everyone :)

Oh okay, then I hope they will accept transfers for spring of 2015. I will call and ask them tomorrow. I'm not sure about other schools, I'm actually only looking into CSULB, but if you look at other schools websites, it should have some more information on them. Wow good job on increasing your score the second time. If you could study as much as possible and try to get something higher, that would be good for you. But your score seems pretty high enough to get in for the Spring. Yeah I know, its hard to do good on the reading if English is a second language. I myself actually scored the lowest in the grammar section and English is my first language, so I am sure it was hard for you. It's upto you though if you want to try to take it again. I guess it wouldnt hurt?

The interesting thing about me is that I did very well on the grammar but not good on the reading part . I think I will take the test again.

please let us know about the spring 2015 ( if they accept transfers)

Wow, the cut-off was 9.3 this semester?! Good job to everyone that got in! My score was juuust below a 9, so I guess that means I didn't make it. Weird though, I thought they usually send out rejection letters first? Did anyone else get a rejection letter? I received nothing.

I've mostly been a lurker but I received an e-mail from the SON stating that the Chemistry I took at the community college I attend does not articulate with their Chemistry course. I find it odd considering that their course descriptions are practically the same with the exception of one thing... I called the SON and we talked about it further. At least I know it wasn't because my grades or TEAS score weren't competitive enough.

Good luck to all those invited for the interview and keep pushing to those who didn't! :)

@ILPC No I don't have a course in progress. I got a B in chem and in english :( Also I scored in the 80's on the TEAS. I'm going to retake it so hopefully I have a better chance for Spring

Do they accept transfers for spring ?

I received a similar e-mail about my chemistry course. I was initially confused because the Intro to Chem course I took at Coastline Community College was intentionally augmented to conform to CSULB articulation requirement. I was told to get a letter from my professor or the department chair specifying that the Chem course had an on-campus wet lab. I sighed about it, but was about to take off that very hour to get the letter done. Then on my way out, I received a follow up e-mail. It turned out my General Chemistry courses for Science Majors now counted towards the Chemistry requirement. I sighed again...because I only took the Intro to Chemistry to fulfill the requirement. I guess now all Chemistry courses over 4 units with a wet lab articulates for the chemistry requirement. In the end though, I'm glad I took the Intro to Chem course, I made a few friends in that class I would not have made otherwise. I also made a friend of my Chemistry professor. I've come to the conclusion that Chemists are very strange people. Also, in the fall of 2013, I didn't know that Statistic was a newly added required course. I just so happened to take the class as a fall back into biochemistry of I didn't get accepted into Nursing school. Geez, talk about dumb luck. If not, I don't think I would have made the cut with 4 units of C with statistics as a class in progress.

My interview is at 11am with group B. I wonder if there is any difference between the groups? Is Group A more likely to be accepted into the program than B or C? Is there anyone here who is in Group A? I recalculated and I think overall score is 9.78. Could be a bit lower because I don't remember what my math TEAS score was.

Good luck to everyone this Wednesday. Hopefully, we'll all get accepted and get to shake each others hands as we transition from anonymous rivals to accepted allies.

Anyone else a little frustrated with how last minute the interview was scheduled and the lack of information? The interview time was announced less than week before the interview and the interview is tomorrow and I'm waiting for an email to see where exactly we are supposed to meet. Called the office and I was told an email would come out at 5pm tonight...

I'm still waiting to hear where the interview is going to be too, but I'm glad you called Glencoco so now I don't have to! Did anyone apply to other BSN programs? If so which ones?

I also applied at SDSU and CSUSM. No word from them!

@beccaz07 I heard SDSU is awesome, good luck to you!!!

Is it hard to get in to SDSU nursing program ?
