U.S.A. California

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

To register for classes, would transfers have to attend the SOAR first?

I just looked through the list of capstones on the list that was provided and they look ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS! Especially if you already have an AA, AS degree etc and/or have completed all your GE's. I feel as though it'd be a repeat to have to take this classes. I'm not at all excited about having to waist my money on them. When I read that capstones were required THIS was not at all what I has in mind. I thought it'd be a nursing related project like most other schools.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted. I will be joining some of you in the Fall'.

Btw (cluelessnursingguy), thank you for the tip on capstones. I would like to know what professors you recommend for those courses listed. But, I cannot use the p/m function.

I would be aiming for the trimester program. Anyone else thinking of that? I know it will be tough, but I've been in school awhile now and I'm ready to get on with it already, haha.

Also, for those of you transferring, is anyone else transferring from out of the area? If I accept, I will be looking for housing and am wondering if anyone else will be looking for places?

I am out of of the area as well. But I am still deciding whether to accept or not.

Congrats to everyone who was accepted. I'm assuming I am not but that's okay, I have backup. Hope to see you all in the field one day...maybe I'll be precepting one of you (: Good luck !!

You need 3 capstones. The links to the lists of capstones can be found at the bottom of this page: Schedule of Classes

Wait! What you mean we all need 3 capstones? Are these GE requirements? So, our first semester at SON we are still taking GE classes before the nursing load? Im confused.

I haven't taken Pharmacology, Pathophysiology yet. Do you think I should take those classes during summer?

Are they hard? Since I had been working so hard to get in the program, I feel like I want to have a summer vacation, but I don't want to have a hard time at the beginning of the semester.

Regarding capstone, usually they require two essays and one short essay. School just wants to make sure if you know how to write. Usually, most of capstone classes are easy. I will be finishing all capstone in two weeks.

You have to complete 3 capstone before you graduate. So, you can take those classes during summer.

Do you know where I can take pharmacology and pathyology during summer?

I checked Goldwen West and Coastline, but they don't offer those classes this summer.

On CSULB Nursing page at the bottom of a few of the pages there will be a link that says approved Pathophysiology and pharmacology classes. That will tell you the schools they accept. By it being so close to simmer it may be difficult tho. I took Patho online at SBCC and pharm I took at LASC in classroom. Not sure if I've seen that class online yet, but don't see why it couldn't be taught that way

LBCC isn't offering Nutrition at all this summer :( And Saddleback's Nutrition starts at like 7:30AM (no thanks!). I, too, wanted to just enjoy my summer before starting the program. Golden West has a really good Pharmacology class, and the same professor teaches Pathophysiology but she just told us that she won't be teaching that anymore (I'm taking her right now). Do you guys know of anywhere else we can take Nutrition to get that out of the way?

Thank you Lavender. I have just checked SBCC. There is still opening. Was it easy for you?

I am not a online person becasue English is my second language, reading and writing are hardest part. I like talking though.

By the way, I like your puppy. I go to a dog park with my puppy every other day.

Ha ha. Is that like the normal time to learn about nutrients?!? My class was at like 7am. I took it at Pasadena. Not sure if she teaches during the summer, but she was such and awesome lady, Ms. K. I remember she had a weekend class too, but because of the shortened time for summer that probably isn't the case
