CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

Published

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

the stats they have on their website say that last fall the average rating was 8.91 and the range was 8.09-9.93. So this semester was hard to qualify for since you needed a 9.11+

Blue, I don't know for certain exactly how many will be accepted, but it is generally between 84 and 90 depending on funding.

THanks for the heads up!

Wow, I wonder what my actual score is then....If I calculate with what Clueless said then I am bellow the interview invite mark (I calculated a 9.105, BARELY) but I got an interview. Weird.

I also just spoke to admissions and they are dead set on keeping me denied to the school. They said that they go based off the overall GPA I put on my application and rank from there. That is fishy because to get an interview, the program only looks at what, 8 classes and the TEAS score (and obviously I think your minimum overall GPA has to be a 3.0 and above). My GPA I put on my app was like either 3.0 or 3.15. Which isn't competitive by any means BUT my grades that the program looks at is good enough to be competitive enough for the program and therefore I got an invite. I am really bummed out over this situation. If admission wins then I am wasting my time (my score is barely above the cut off so this might be a sign I wont get in anyway).

I am thinking of appealing it but I dont know how to get started. The admissions lady also gave me the assistant director of admissions phone number to call and work this thing out. I already called her and left her a message. I am hoping they at least can change my admission status to conditionally just in case God is smiling on me and I actually get in the program. I am not expecting much with so much against me.

I see what you are saying Clueless. What if the class your using to replace the, let say, math grade, was done in fall 2011. Would they still use that grade to calculate your score? Or is this anything AFTER fall 2011 grades are in? Now I am really worried that my score barely made the cuttoff (9.105 rounded up is 9.11).

@Lucy; If I get an A in this chem class than I will have 9.622. Don't worry too much I am pretty sure with those scores we are shoe-ins. The person I talked to basically said get an A and reapply and I should be golden. So now next semester I guess I am going to be taking the classes that we would be taking if we were to get in, i.e. patho, nutrition, and whatever else class I can get out of the way.

I didn't apply to CSULB, but I just wanted DarkBluePhoenix to know I have my fingers crossed for you! I hope everything works out in your favor, I know how bad you want this. Good luck to everyone else too! Congrats to those selected to interview, it is a great accomplishment just to get this far!

aw thank you so much Sirena! I hope it does for me too! i broke down and emailed CSULB just to confirm the time of my interview and stuck my score question in there. I have a feeling I am right at cut off and basically an alternate (low at that). But it is ok. At least I made it this far!!!

As for you, dont give up hope! I bet the admissions people at CSULA didnt know their head from their rear! I bet you will get in. Dont lose hope, be positive like you said and keep your chin up. I have a feeling you will make it in, regardless of what anyone tells you! I just know it!

@DarkBluePhoenix I am also really happy for you! It's been a rough couple months since applications and wow if you were the cut off score that is purely amazing! It would be a coincidence if we were in the same interview group, I forgot what room I'm in because I was so excited when I was on the phone that all I could think about is FINALLY!!!! By the way, Lot 1 is usually full by like 9 AM so unless they only allow interview-ee's to park there then you'll probably have to park far. Parking at CSULB sucks unless you have 8 AM class! I will be on campus cause I have classes 8-10:45 am. Then I'll be anxiously waiting for the interview!

THanks! You have seen me through like what 3 or 4 different threads and having all these issues, with each school. You have encouraged me and I really appreciate it. I too looked at my email saying I got an interview request and was dumbfounded! I am really excited especially when I thought that this school would not give me a chance at all! And here I am! Now that I got invited to interview, I WANT IT! I thought that I wouldn't get in and that there was no real reason to get into a school that didn't want me. I was ok with that. But this email has given me hope that I just may, MAY, make it in after all!

I just cant stop checking this thread and every time I look at that email, I think wow I just maybe a NS at CSULB this fall! I just hope that my score isn't cut off. But you know what? I knew I had no chance for CSULB and look what happens! I have better chance then ever thought possible at this time! I know we all can get in and do it! I hope we all do!

Now how did you find out what group you were in?

When I called in to schedule my interview she told me what room! I am pretty sure she told me I'm in 26, but I have to email to double check.

Oh ok. She told me that its in the board room but no number. She assured me though that there will be a lot of helpers around. Hopefully we are in the same group!

I am waiting for her email back though. Hopefully she will tell me the room I am in.

Don't worry about what room you are in for the interview, because that is subject to change. We will make it very clear where you check in and there will be a number of us from CNSA to assure that you get to the right room for your interview session.
