CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

Published

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

http://www.csulb.edu/colleges/chhs/departments/nursing/docs/PoolStatsFall11.pdf

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

I had a 9.07/10 and didn't get an invite. So i'm assuming the cutoff is right around there since there are a few 9.2?'s out there that got invites. Depending on how competitive this particular pool is, some of those 9.2's might even be alternates i think.

Now i'm just hoping there isn't some huge budget crisis that will keep them from taking transfers for spring. By that point i'll be at a 9.604, a lot more competitive.

I hope 9.2 is not the cutoff for alternatives. >.

I don't think they finished sending out invites though so there's still hope guys!

If 9.1 is the cuttoff then that's a bad sign. I'm around that mark and that's. Not making me feel any better about getting in. I wonder if they are taking the full 90 this year.I honestly don't know what my score is. What I put originally is my guess, but since I'm not sure what grades they used, I don't know. Check you scores guys.I'm also wondering how we are all doing interviews on one day. Like say 120 are invited. Interviews are every hour and I think they are held between 9 and 4pm. Ok so 7 hours. What maybe 10-15 per group? Or are they inviting less? I'm confused on why they are doing all interviews on one day? Its it just me or the numbers weird?

@DarkBluePhoenix- They used your higher grades. They said they would take higher grades from repeated courses taken before Fall 2011 when calculating scores.

The fact that they are doing it all in 1 day makes me nervous. Is it a sign they are accepting less students for Fall? Or maybe the interviewing process will be shorter now?

Hello everyone.

I am new to this thread, and I noticed that many of you have already heard from the nursing school. Should I begin to worry? I haven't gotten any calls/email in regards to my exact score nor an interview, so I'm on edge.

Hi I got an interview too :DI have trouble calculating my score lol does csulb count A- as a solid A?

Yes, TheJonathanT, I believe they do. What was your score out of 10?

My score was 9.2ish. Did anyone get an invite with a score lower than that?!

Also is everyone in this thread a transfer besides ST1004 and I?

The interviews are all being held on one day as opposed to two days in previous cycles. This does not mean that fewer people will be invited to interview as there may be three interview sessions going on each hour at the same time. Each session will likely include about 6-8 people. I will be there for some of the time along with other members of the board of California Nursing Student Association (CNSA) to answer many of your questions about the process and about the program itself before and after your interviews.

Generally the Admissions office waits until hearing from the Nursing Department before they make a final decision about admission into the university unless there is some extenuating circumstance or you don't meet university minimum requirements. DarkBlue, your situation seems unique and I would ask someone at admissions about their decision and let them know that you have been invited for a nursing interview. They have been known to make errors, so I would definitely look into it.

Congratulations to everyone who received an invite and don't stress too much about the interview.. just participate and be yourself. Alternates are not chosen until AFTER the interviews and often alternates do end up getting offers of admission, so don't count yourself out if you are deemed an alternate. Let me know if you have any more questions!

I got between 9.16-9.3. My two chem courses are equivalent to chem140, but one of them is in progress so I don't know if I count my whole chem section as a C (for in progress)

That is weird because when I emailed them last summer (before fall 2011) they said that any repeats (my repeats were not the SAME EXACT class, just a different class in the same category). I emailed ----- for days on it and she concluded that the C and B would be taken over the As. I redid and got an A in philosphy logic that summer and took statistics that fall and got an A and that is what I used and put on the application. I am not sure what they used, but if you are absolutely correct, then they must have used the B I got from trig (way back in 2007) and the A in philosophy since it was summer. If that is the case then I have like a 9.105 or something. If they used straight what I put on my app and just checked that the grades were correct then my points are a 9.24 (I prefer).

Oh by the way I got the 1pm timeslot!

;)

Oh and I had a good convo with -----, she said that it is weird that admissions denied me especially since I got an interview. She said that once her phone stops ringing then she will get it straigthened out. Whew...

unfortunately I cant 'like' your post but kudos!

I am going to call admissions as well and see what is going on.

I have the golden 4 done, nothing in progress but intro to soc.

Also I think it was my application to the university. I calculated my GPA based on two different schools, one being quarter units and the other being semester units. Some classes from both schools arent even counted as transferable so I think that is why they denied me admission. My overall GPA I projected (like a 3.0 I think) is really low so they probably denied me cause of that. I think my true overall GPA is like 3.2. I dont know but I bet that is the reason why they did.

but thanks for the heads up. You wouldn't happen to know how many they are accepting this year? Oh well, an interview is more than I could have ever hoped for!

Nervous/Excited about the interview...anyone else?!?!

I'm a transfer student as well, stats are as follows:

Science GPA: 4.0

GE GPA: 4.0

TEAS overall: 82%

TEAS math: 93.3%

So if I'm calculating correctly that places me at a 9.5/10

Congratulations to everybody, I cannot believe after years of following this thread I'm finally a part of it by being invited to interviews. CSULB has been my dream school for a long time now!!
