Hi!
I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.
http://www.csulb.edu/colleges/chhs/departments/nursing/docs/PoolStatsFall11.pdf
Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!
Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?
I thought that that the remaining 30 people of the 120 they interview (90 being choosen in) are the alternates they choose from. I mean, what is the point inviting the extra 30 people that will be straight denials? What a waste of time for them. Why choose alternates out of the pile that did not make it to the interview? The whole point of the interview is to see how you work will others, think and get along (as well as understand, read, and write in English). So the people not choosen, but are still alternates, MUST be from the remaining interview pile.
Anyway, a friend of mine was also invited to the interview so we are going to carpool. If I cannot get to the 1pm timeslot then I will miss seeing most of you guys!
So anyway. I am glad that people are still getting emails!
I also heard that if the university denies you, then your denied to the program. That is really unfair for those selected. It is weird that the school denied me on basis that my application wasn't competitive for the nursing major and yet I still get an interview. Should I call admissions and tell them that obviously, I was competitive enough to make some sort of cut and that I shouldn't be denied from the major yet? I dont know, I have a feeling that due to budget cuts, that they will just be cold-hearted and give me some sob sorry story and think nothing of it. Well, I guess I will see tomorrow!
I will post up what I find out.
I turned it in directly as well, and panicked a couple of weeks ago. I emailed ---- directly and she emailed me back saying that my application had been received. I would imagine that she did receive it. I have been checking my emails every 30 minutes today with no luck. I am a feeling a little discouraged at this point. Good luck to you
I dont think they are sending emails yet.
That is really weird we are all being interview on one day! Crazy! I hope that that means they will make decisions faster!
I was reading previous threads and a few things I have noticed:
Admissions makes a decision AFTER nursing program gets back to them
They only took 88 people or so which is
The alternates are the other interviewees that do not receive acceptances
If there is an admissions denial, then the program will contact admission to put it on hold or to revoke it (hopefully they will do it in my case)
So I am still really worried about my admissions decision. I hate to wait all the way into tomorrow to call them when I feel that I will get bad news :/ or maybe there was a mistake...ugh!
***OH and according to CSULB check application status actually says
Application Decision: Your application has been denied
All in one day...if i remember correctly, they did them in two days during the spring (or maybe it was fall). How do you know they're only taking 88 people this semester?
I'm equally worried. Even though reading this thread today has been very discouraging, i'm still worried that my application status doesn't even say that they've received my transcripts. =/
No I was saying that they took like 88 people or so for Spring 2012 because of LBMH not having the funding for extra students. As for worrying. Don't. If admission hasnt sent you anything then I think your ok.
As for transcripts. I haven't sent mine in because no one asked for them. CSULB enrollment made it very clear that unless they specifically asked for transcripts, then they do not want to receive them. So I held off. I was thinking that I wouldn't make it to even an invitation so oh well. Admissions denied me last week so I lost hope for CSULB. Then BAM, I get an email from CSULB SoN that I have been invited for an interview. Then I am researching and finding that admissions normally doesn't deny people unless the program gives the go-ahead. Then I get an invite. Well that is pretty conflicting info. I am just stressin because I have been like 180ed into thinking I didn't have a slight chance and now it could be one big mistake! Ugh so typical, if I got denied for real and that they just made an error and that admissions will keep their decision to deny me.
I am pretty upset
Well, I sent mine in because they asked for them, said it had to be there before march 9th.
As for your situation, in a past thread there was an issue where some students got accepted into the program but not into the university, and the nursing department tried to clear things up with admissions. I'm not sure what ultimately happened, whether they got in or not, but hopefully your situation gets resolved. I've read your posts, and i know how frustrated you are about the whole siatuation.

I'm not sure. I thought that's why they would interview 120 people, to accept 90 and have 30 alternatives. But yeah, either BeachsideNic can answer our question or if not call the school of nursing tomorrow.
And if you turned it in directly to the school of nursing then they got your application. I did the same thing.
@tiger07, Maybe it means they initially interview the top 90 then afterwards send out invitations to alternatives to interview. Not quite sure.
