CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

U.S.A. California

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

If you took your TEAS at CSULB then no, your scores are automatically sent to them. I would call to double check, but that's how it was when I took my TEAS at CSULA. I think on the check off page of the application it says something like if you didn't take your TEAS at CSULB did you have the scores officially sent to us? Which implies that if you took it there you don't have to.

And you can handwrite it or type it. On the top of the app it should say type or hand print.

I did mine in hand. Ha ha Thought it was more personal (not really, my printer was MIA)

i don't know you guys... we're obviously as informed as any other applicant, possibly even more since we spend time in these forums. and if we're just finding out now that would-be msn applicants can apply to our program, chances are that not too many people know about it, right?

exactly!

and if they didn't know this back in november when university apps were due, then they probably didn't even bother applying because they would have known that the msn program had been cancelled for the semester. so even if they learn about it now at the same time we are, they're too late unless they're already csulb students.

exactly!

and they can't be current csulb students because that would mean they're still working on their first degree!

i could be totally off, but i'm trying to think of anything that will keep me from postponing nursing school until next january. i'm keeping my hopes up until i get an official 'no.'

which brings me to my next question, if i took my teas at csulb i don't have to send them anything, right?

nope, you're fine.

i'm all for being realistic, but let's not sike ourselves out. we waited a long time just to be able to apply. now that we are at the final stretch, let's try to stay as positive as possible!

Just turned in my application yesterday! I knew that CSULB was competitive, but this thread has been eye opening. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Unfortunately, this was the only program I was able to apply to. Thanks for all the great info.

Hey guys, kind of a picky question, but hopefully someone can answer.

On the CSULB nursing app, where it asks us to list our prerequisites, it says to put the "course name/number." That line is so small, I just put BIO 210, CHEM 101, etc. without actually writing out the specific name of the class. They have the names of the classes on their transfer equivelancies, and it says it on my transcripts. Should I try to squeeze the name in too? what did you guys do??

Thanks!

(I tried calling the office but I can't get through)

@ella.moore Hey I turned in my app awhile ago but I had the same problem, the lines are too small!. I typed my application and when typing it I put "BIO 210, CHEM 101" etc, then after I printed it I wrote in handwriting next to each one what the title was. I abbreviated too, don't think it's too big of a deal but it gives them a general idea what course it is. I think they already reviewed my application because they contacted me about my anatomy and physiology course that I took elsewhere, so I'm sure if you did what I did you'll be fine.

What are your stats if you don't mind sharing?

Clueless.....here my stats

Science GPA: 4.0

GE GPA: 4.0

TEAS overall: 79.3%

TEAS math: 93.3%

I got a low overall score on my TEAS. I think my nerves got the best of me, but I was not able to retake them before the application deadline. If I averaged correctly, I'm at 9.45 out of 10.

I really wanted to apply to CSUSB, but they require me to take an additional chemistry. It would need to be completed this spring for me to be considered for winter 2013, so it's a no go for me.

What Chem do they require you to take? I attend CSULB and took Chem140 and was able to apply to CSUSB.

I sent my chem course info to the chair of chemistry at CSUSB and he said i require the second chemistry (i think 208) because the chem I took did not cover metabolism. I took my chem at a CC, not CSULB.

@

victor 3397- your teas scores are actually pretty good, and your gpa more than enough makes up for them. your overall score is great! you have a great chance of getting in.

oh I see. Csulb accepts the chem you took but csusb doesn't? hmm.. Im surprised Csulb accepts a chem that doesn't cover metabolism because one third of the course is biochemistry. That being said, you have a good solid score I wouldn't worry about being rejected. :) Because of the extra applicants from the 2nd degree program the average points out of 10 will probably raise, but not by much.
