CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

U.S.A. California

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

Well this pretty much ruins any hopes I had of getting in.

I have a question though, and i hope that someone can answer. I am a transfer, and i applied to CSULB in november. Can i still attent CSULB for fall 2012 even if i don't get into nursing for fall 2012? This would allow me to apply as a CSULB student for spring 2013, right? I'm not sure if that made much sense, but basically i'm trying to see if there's any way to avoid applying as a transfer for spring 2013.

Nope

If you attend CSULB anyways, because you got denied from their nursing program, then you will have to change your major. They make you sign a contract saying you promise never to apply to their nursing program again. They don't want a lot of students taking up space at their school because they most likely will not get accepted to their program.

It sucks but that is the way it is. You have a competitive score, we all do. Problems for you guys is that not only are you competing with all the other undergrads like normal, but your also competing against the post bachelor people too. It sucks...If I would have known that they would be getting, essentially double the applicants, I wouldn't have applied to the school or program period.

@lucyc66

If your question is do you have to re-apply to be a transfer student for Spring 2013 if you do not get into the nursing program for Fall 2012, my assumption would be yes. I think you have to apply for every semester you plan to attend. For most colleges, if you are absent for 1 or more semesters then you have to reapply. So if you applied for Fall 2012 and don't get in, and choose not to attend during Fall 2012, then you would have to submit another application to the university for Spring 2013.

What I have known while being here, you get two attempts at applying to get into the program at CSULB. So you would still be able to apply once more if you don't get in for Fall 2012, but after that you can't apply again. A total of 2 attempts is allowed, no more than that.

As much as it isn't fair, my friends that didn't get in were not allowed to apply again unless they choose not to attend CSULB. It's just like how you had to change your major ST. It sucks

So in order for them to apply again they had to accept to go to CSULB and attend there for a semester then reapply to the nursing program? Wow that's some MORE bs!

That's the point. Unless they wait and apply for fall. It sucks but people with really low scores and GPAs can apply, apply and apply and will never get in. So CSULB is protecting themselves.

Does anyone know if the interviews are during the week or maybe on the weekends?

During the week probably. Check out fall 2011 thread and look at the dates given of when they stated their interview

Great idea, thanks!

DarkPhoenix, I see you already answered this person's question in this thread. xD

I personally never knew they made transfers sign a contract saying they won't switch to nursing!

Yes from what I have heard. And I believe someone stated that in one of the CSULB threads. I mean it makes since. As sucky as that rule is. What can do you do? I mean I know their program is good but its a waste of $$ to stay at CSULB taking bs classes, just to keep applying. Personally, that's why I am applying to all programs because I won't have to end up attending a school with a program just to re apply. It honestly sucks, I hate that it is so competive but at the same time, its good. Who wants the nurse who barely passed their pre reqs? That's why 'buy your way in' schools like West Coast scare me! I mean essentially they 'bought' their way in. I don't know, I could go on a full on rant about trade schools and for profit.private schools. At least provate
