CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

U.S.A. California

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

i don't think their el-msn is admitting for the fal 2012l (no funding)....maybe that's why?

OH yes it does ST!

That did add on a lot more applicants from before! I still think it is unfair. They should have a separate ABSN program for them or the EL-MSN program. Do they favor post bachelor students or something? I am just surprised no one has said anything yet. That gives a group of students double the chance of getting into one of their programs. As I said, ST, I dont think you have to worry, your grades and scores are stellar and you are competitive enough. But, seeing how this school/program does some sneaking stuff (look at fall 2011 thread regarding cutting transfers WITHOUT notifying anyone about it) changing rules and now favoring other students. This is bogus.

Dance: Yes I know they lost funding for their EL-MSN program, but that doesn't mean that they should be pushed into getting into OUR program. Then if they dont get in then they still have a shot at the EL-MSN program next fall AND our program once again making it extremely unfair to us. I highly doubt they are letting them apply 'this one semester' because of lose of funding. I bet this going to be yet, another stupid rule. So regardless if their program lost funding, which its not like it disappeared, it just got moved back a year AND there are plenty of EL-MSN programs popping up everywhere to apply to. Why does CSULB get to push double the applicants towards one program who should be set aside for us students who do not have an undergrad degree yet.

Another reason I know it is in effect is that if you look at the total applicants applying the last few years (again with the exception of fall 2010 and skewed statistics of fall 2011) they get around 400+ total applicants. Well I emailed one of the admissions people and she said that there is about 700+ applicants that have applied so far. So competition is fierce. That is an additional 300+ students (deadline is not even close to now) that we are competing against. I dont know good I already sent in my application or else I would have withdrawn it.

There is some BS going on there

Wow 700+?! It will probably go to 1000! That is really unfair. My goodness, the average points out of 10 will probably be like 9.5. It is definitely unfair to pre-nursing students having to compete against 2nd degree seeking applicants. I'm just glad I applied to 5 other schools as back ups.

No I agree. It is unfair! more like BS but I digress......

I had to edit this post multiple times because I dropped expletives every other word. Honestly this is so unfair to us! Are you sure you heard right about there being that many applications being turned in already? Can you imagine how many applicants will be turned in by the deadline? I'm so annoyed, frustrated, and angry. Words cannot express. Can we just get in already?!!!!

Yup just click the link. scroll down to the bottom

this is copy and pasted directly from CSULB

"Second Degree ApplicantsThe Basic/Trimester BSN Program is open to both undergraduate and second degree seekers. However, we will also accept applications from second degree applicants for our Entry Level MSN Program. This program only admits in the Fall. Please contact our Office for further information."

this is unbelievable. i am tempted to email them and ask them if they really do favor "second degree seekers"

It WOULD happen that it is the semester that we're applying to too. :'(

There is some BS going on there

There is A LOT of B.S. going on here... Ha.. pun intended...

What you mean?

Specializes in L&D.

Hey does anyone know when they usually do the interviews for LB? Is it during the week or on a weekend? I live in SF, it's going to be a pain getting down there.

Stats:

Science GPA: 4.0

General GPA: 3.85

Teas score: 93.3%

Teas Math: 93.3%

Total: 9.62

BluePhoenix: Why do you think they will disqualify you?! 9.23 seems like a great score!

Because the GE's I redid (different classes like different math and different critical thinking) right when they changed the 'rules'

honestly it does NOT state ANYWHERE on the actual paper application that you need to list the 'first GE taken'

complete BS. So I am not hoping for much. I will announce when they disqualify me. I highly doubt they even have the decentacy to send anything regarding it. too many applicants would be their excuse. well its their fault for letting two different types of applicants fight for spots into one program.

Just mailed my application, transcripts and TEAS score with certified mail, return receipt.

Now who wants to bet I get disqualified by the end of next week :/
