CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

U.S.A. California

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

http://www.csulb.edu/colleges/chhs/departments/nursing/docs/PoolStatsFall11.pdf

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

It can also be listed on your transcripts if you selected that option to display courses in progress. Or you can print it out from what your school uses to confirm registration of a course in progress. Usually, it's a copy of your enrolled courses that lists your name, school, #, courses, semester, etc.

I wrote my name and address in top left corner, then the address they provided on the bottom of the checklist in the middle of the envelope. Be sure to indicate BSN Admissions.

Thanks!

So earlier today i was reading the spring 2012 thread and, from what i understood, being a transfer had little effect on admission decisions. In other words, they didn't limit the number of transfers who got accepted, and it seems as if all decisions were made strictly on your score/10. Does anyone have any idea, or has anyone heard about how they will be treating transfers this time around?

It just seems like everyone has really good scores. As far as i can tell no one has posted on this thread with anything below a 9.0- in fact, if i'm not mistaken, i have the lowest score on this thread so far at 9.07 and as a transfer this has me worried. I think if it's based solely on your score/10 i have an okay shot at getting in.

I feel like i'm asking the same questions over and over. Sorry. I just know the wait after the 15th is going to feel even worse!

lucy....i think everyone is feeling the pressure with the application deadline right around the corner. no matter what our individual scores are, we have all worked very hard to finally have the opportunity to apply. every semester has a different pool of students, so there is a possibility that the scores will lower, plus your score is competitive.

i have read on this thread that 2nd degree applicants are being allowed to apply which will make it more competitive for all. i disagree, think about it, if you were a business major chances are you didn't think you needed to get a's on the required science course and ge's. so you decides to go back to school to become an rn, even if you retake those courses, csulb is not going let you replace previous grades for your new improved grades.

try to relax.....good luck!

i'm not sure if i am looking at the pool stats correctly, but it seems to me that the cut off could be below 8.9. if you look at the stats below, the ranges of the students selected are in () the numbers before the () are the averages. it seems to me if you are in the 3.0 range and score high on your teas or vice versa you still have a shot at being selected. look at the math, someone with a 51.1% was selected, right? don't shoot me if i am misinterpreting the data! lol

statistics for 86 selected students:

average science gpa - 3.59 (range 3.00- 4.0)

average ge gpa - 3.72 (range 3.00 - 4.0)

average teas test score - 85.81% (range 71.3% - 97.6%)

average math score - 90.81% (range 51.1% - 100%)

total students assigned math tutorial -- 5

for the list of stats they post, aren't those ranges for the all applicants and not for the accepted applicants? i don't see how you could get in with a 51.1%. am i mistaken?

No, you're right. The cut off was 8.09, waay below 8.9 (low in general compared to other semesters)

@ST1004 Did you write anything on the outside of the envelope? (so they know it's an app and it doesn't get lost along the way)

Also, (to anyone that can answer) if we have a course in progress we just include a print-out from the website we use to register for classes, right? As long as it says we're enrolled?

8.09? Where is that posted? That score is too low and it's hard to believe that it was the actual cutoff score.

It says it right at the top before the averages... "Statistics for 86 selected students"

Who knows... maybe that 51.1% Average Math score had high GPA and assigned a Math tutorial... just my guess although that is pretty low...

fall 2011

438 generic applicants (86 admitted, 163 ineligible, 275 qualified alternates)

rating average# – 8.91 (range 8.09– 9.93)

86 people ranged the difference of 8.09 to 9.93 .. that's hard to believe. Guess the pool wasn't that competitive for Fall 2011.

I can't believe I never noticed that before!!!!!!!!

If those ranges are correct, what are we all worried about?!

That's what I thought as well, but upon closer look, it doesn't indicate that that range is only for the 86 selected applicants which could infer many things... such as it could be the range of all 438 Generic applicants... or only those admitted and qualified combined... etc. etc.)

I calculated the rating average for the selected students (2011) and got and average of 8.98 which corresponds to most of our expectations and higher than even their 8.91 rating.

I'm confused again. Are those ranges for all applicants or just for those that got accepted?
