CSULB Fall 2012 BSN

Published

Hi!

I think the CSULB School of nursing recently post new pool statistics including those who were chosen for Fall 2011.

http://www.csulb.edu/colleges/chhs/departments/nursing/docs/PoolStatsFall11.pdf

Knowing that the rating average is 8.91/10, that seems like a huge difference than the previous semesters!

Anyone else planning to apply to CSULB Fall 2012 BSN program?

Good Luck everyone...

I'm a 1st trimester student at CSULB (Spring, 2012)

The decisions are based entirely on your score out of 10 points... However, some of the lower scores may be indicated by some of the accepted students from the veterans group, because they likely get special consideration for the veterans Bolus Group. don't count on getting in with an 8.09 score, because that will not necessarily mean that it's the cutoff for regular students. I hope that helps! Feel free to ask me any questions you like, and I'll answer if I can...

I just mailed in my app yesterday; I have a 9.16 with a course in progress.

I am going to turn in my app tomorrow and I have exactly 9.16 with a course in progress too lol CSULB is my first choice so I hope everything works out.

Nick....

Did most of your classmates prer the trimester program over the 3 year program? I know you just started your program, but do you begin clinicals in the first semester? Last, how are the courses laid out, are you in class five days a week? how many hours? You asked for questions and you got them..LOL

Did most of your classmates prer the trimester program over the 3 year program? Nearly every student got the program that he or she wanted. Only 3 people had to do the trimester when they preferred the 3-year basic. We chose by writing our preference on a card, then it was tallied, and the 3 people who needed to switch were drawn out of a hat.

I know you just started your program, but do you begin clinicals in the first semester? Yes.

Last, how are the courses laid out, are you in class five days a week? how many hours? I have clinical 1 day per week, and other classes on campus three days per week..the rest of my time is spent studying and reading, and reading, and reading.

You asked for questions and you got them.. LOL

Thanks for the info!

LOL, during this past week, this thread has seen so many new posters! ;)

@BeachsideNic- I didn't know they gave preferences to veterans. Anyway, I hope your semester is going well so far. Have you had your first exams yet? How do your classes compare to your nursing classes? How do you like the teachers you have? How are your care-plans coming along? Please keep us all posted on how your semester is going as we all nervously wait for our results.

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know how many students (on average) end of dropping out or failing the nursing program before graduation?

seems like a lot of us have a course in progress

i remember hearing a national average percent of students dropping / failing nursing programs somewhere but i don't recall what that % was. however, to answer your question, my cohort (5th semester, trimester) started with 45 & we've lost around 8 students. some realized nursing were not for them, some dropped, and some failed.

I turned in my application in last week to the information desk and the lady said she would get it to MonaLisa. I have not heard any confirmation that the application actually got through to her though. Has anyone else received any type of confirmation? Are we supposed to just assume it got to her? NERVOUS!

I didn't get any confirmation either. I guess we do just have to assume it got to her.
