CSULB Fall 2015 Applicants-Basic BSN

Published

I am extremely surprised there isn't a thread that exists for students applying to CSU LB for Fall 2015!!

Here are my stats, but enlighten me on one part, what does the general gpa consist of? I actually went to CSULB and met Monalisa, but she said the nursing program only looks at eight classes... Maybe I should call to reassure how they calculate the cummulative GPA, but my other scores are set.

Science GPA: 4.0: 4

TEAS Math: 100 : 2

TEAS Overall: (90.7x2)100:1.814

GE GPA: TBA

So far so good, but being that a 3.0 is the cut off gpa for general and science for the program I am giving myself a 3.0/2= 1.5 as a score and my points would be a 9.314 as a default. Hopefully it will be higher.

thank you for the information. Sucks that I have to take my chances with it but the odds seem in my favor. Are you taking the trimester or regular 3year program?

Runstohousebeats, I am in that boat sort of also. Everything relies on getting into the trimester program. Financially I am covered for trimester including cost of living to move up and live there. That is my main reason. THIS DOES NOT TAKE AWAY FROM CSULB BEING A GREAT PROGRAM! I applied to a few other schools, but they take longer to respond. Specially CSUSM not until July 1st. I know a lot of people give intent to more then one school and back out last min. That's another way alternates get in last minute. It really benifits for those who get the wavier fee.

Yeah, i get what you mean Deon. For me it would be financially more difficult to move to long beach but I could do it. I live in Ventura and CSUCI is the program that I was planning on going to but then I found out about CSULB's trimester program and the time difference is pretty important to me. Going to CSUCI would mean that I wouldn't have to move and all my expenses would be taken care of since I would be at home. I don't hear back from the CSUCI's nursing program until next month but I think I have a good shot.

Plus, I'm torn because I heard the trimester is brutal and I'm worried about risking my GPA and the fact that there won't be time to do any externships since there are no breaks. Ugh... I wish I knew what to pick :(

Life will put us where we need to be though. I just hope where it puts me will be pleasant :)

If you guys could choose between CSULB and UCI's nursing program which would you pick and why?

Im transfer student and I got an email from csulb admissions saying that i am on a wait list. Im also on the alternate list for the SON. What happens if I get into the SON but not the university itself?? 😐

Well if I'm not mistaken.. It all depends on you getting into the program itself. Once the SON accepts a student they then will submit the package to admissions; and admissions will grant acceptance into the university to the individual. The way I see it is: if you get into SON then you get into the school. Hope that helps a little.

does anybody know if we're allowed to call and see if we've moved up the alternate list?

Yea you can call, but i doubt there has been any movement on the list

If it was me, I would take the school that I thought had the highest chance of landing me a job after graduating and at the same time let me keep my grades up. That being said, I've heard CSULB is very difficult and I know nothing of UCI's program but since its a UC school I can assume that its as hard or harder than CSULB. I'd likely pick UCI though because you might have a better chance at landing a position inside the UC system of hospitals which would look great if your planning on grad school in the future or you even if you don't, UC nurse salaries are pretty sweet.

Any transfer students that received acceptance letters for Fall 15 on here? I received my acceptance from CSULB last week (received SoN before that) and have gained access to MyCSULB. When I look at my To Do list it is empty. The acceptance email did not list any documents that need to be submitted and after talking to admissions, it appears as if I am not being required to submit transcripts to CSULB (yes I submitted to SoN). Anyone else experience this?

Yes, I got my acceptance from the school and then checked my 'to-do' as well. There was nothing 'to-do'.

I didn't call admissions though. I just sent CSULB my transcripts assuming that it was just some error and I wanted to cover myself in case.

Hope that helps.

I received the email last Friday and the portion under "submit official admission verification documents" is blank. After activating and logging into myCSULB, I couldn't even find the "To Do List." :( I'm assuming as well that they're requesting transcripts.

I vaguely recall ------------------------ saying to send in our transcripts once we get selected, but I don't remember if it is to the SON or to the office of admissions. Does anyone know?
