CSULB BSN Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone, I was unable to find a thread with potential CSULB Spring transfers so I decided to start one. Hopefully, everyone is just as excited as I am :) I haven't taken the TEAS yet and I am currently wrapping up Micro. I plan on taking TEAS The end of may or early June and if I am unsatisfied with my results I will retake them in July. I would love to hear from other applicants! Good luck!!

Hi friends! I submitted my application last Wednesday! Am I calculating my points correctly?

- Science Pre-requisites GPA: 4.0 = 4 pts

- GE requirements GPA: 4.0 = 2 pts

- TEAS total score = 89.3% = 1.786 pts

- TEAS reading score = 78.7% = 1.574 pts

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total points: 9.36 pts

Do you guys think I have a chance to get into the spring semester? I don't know how competitive it is during the spring semester... Does anyone know?

Hi, on the SON website they have a breakdown of the admission stats for each semester!

Does the admission stats posted on the website include the additional 2 communication points? For Fall 2018, the listed average is around 11.4 points. However, one student in the Fall 2018 cohort posted on this message board and said the average was around 9.4 for his cohort. Just wondering since Spring 2018 listed 9.4 as the average but with the communication points deducted it would be 7.4. Anyone have any insight to this?

It's just my guess but it looks like it's inconsistent. Some semesters it's added with the 2 comm points and some without. Like the 9.4 is without. The 11s are with.

The total number of points you can get is 13 pts.

Science GPA= 4

prerequisite GPA =2

TEAS Reading= 2

TEAS overall= 2

Military point = 1

Communication exercise= 2

The 11.4 includes the communication points. When the other student said 9.4, he was referring to the points without the communication points. Hope that makes sense

Hi Matt,

My point is 9.6 too so hopefully I'll have a good chance to get in. Can I ask you one question about the communication exercise? Do you think it's possible to pass the interview for an international student? Are there any people who aren't speak English as their first language in you cohort? I'm really nervous every time I think about that interview. Thank you so much.

I think the cutoff for my cycle was around 9.3. And I don't want any of you to stress out about the communication exercise if you do get invited. It really was pretty easy. In order to screw that up, you would either need to be retarded or your english would have to be lousy.

What classes are you guys taking into account for when calculating your General Ed PreReq GPA?

Stats, written communication , oral communication , and critical thinking

judging from the grammar in what you wrote, you should be fine. it's okay if you have some accent. the only way you would be disqualified is if the proctor has to say "what" to you like five times every time you say something. there is a chinese girl in my cohort whose english is not perfect, but she cleared it easily. like i said, just be professional and don't act like a retard and you'll be fine.

So Dr. Fitzgerald, who will be some of your pharmacology professor as well as the head of the communication exercise told me that your communication exercise date will be October 17. So if you get selected for the interview, you should get an invitation email about one week before.

Thanks for letting us know! The next couple of weeks will not be fun...lol
