CSULB BSN Spring 2019

Published

Hello everyone, I was unable to find a thread with potential CSULB Spring transfers so I decided to start one. Hopefully, everyone is just as excited as I am :) I haven't taken the TEAS yet and I am currently wrapping up Micro. I plan on taking TEAS The end of may or early June and if I am unsatisfied with my results I will retake them in July. I would love to hear from other applicants! Good luck!!

That's a great score!

Hopefully they'll send out the actual emails tomorrow morning. If you call them, I feel like at worst they'll just tell you that they can't reveal that info

I don't wana give any false hope but I read the forum from Fall 2018 and it seems they had 2 rounds of acceptances .. Some people who were initially waitlisted to the University (via checking their application status) were accepted a few days later.

They said something about accepting the top 30 first because funding is secured for them and the final 40 when they recieved the extra funding for them.

Here's the forum if you wana read for yourself.

The acceptance stuff starts on page 18 ish

Dont lose hope guys! Long Beach seems very disorganized from all of the forums I've read I'm sure more acceptances are coming.

Hi! I just received my email, and unfortunately, I did not get in. I didnt really want to go to long beach, but I find it interesting that I didnt get in now that I see everyone's stats. I had:

Science gpa: 4.0 = 4 points

Overall gpa 3.7 = 1.85 points

Teas score 88.7 = 1.774 points

Teas math 100%= 2 points

Total= 9.6 points...

The weird thing is that their reason was that my points didnt even make it to the cut off limit...

Mark how did you feel about the interview? I mean...that's really high I'm surprised as well...that you didn't make the wait list.

TheClassCat well, i wasnt even invited to the interview. All they said was that my score was not hight enough and thats it. Well, I might have calculated the points wrong. Is the overall gpa calculated out of all the classes that youve taken, or is it calculated out of the pre reqs only?

Actually, nevermind. I just noticed that they use stats as one of the pre reqs and it has to be completed with a B or better, but when i was taking stats i was having a very rough time, so i ended up getting a C. Therefore, i was disqualified automatically...

I think my score was somewhere between 9.4 or 9.6 it's somewhere in the first page and I'm a transfer if that helps. I didn't think I did bad on the communication exercise for the most part.

Do you know when we can contact them to see what position we are on the waitlist? I know they say they take alot but I'm scared what if this year is the year that they don't accept much if any. I'm getting nervous for me other applications now

Your score is very high, much higher than mine and I'm on the waitlist as well. Some people have already been accepted with 9.3-9.4 scores so it's very weird if you're on the waitlist. Communication exercise is pass/no pass so you either get denied or you get the points & are accepted (or waitlisted). So, since you are waitlisted, I'm sure you got the 2 points.

My score is only 9.284. E-mails should be out soon for official acceptances and waitlists, so I'm trying to not worry until then. I have no idea if we can see what position we are, I was going to call the SON after e-mails are sent out and ask a few questions.. what position I am, how many people from the waitlist typically end up in the program, and what the cut-off score was. We'll see if they answer any haha.

Does anybody else on the waitlist mind sharing their scores?

What is your reading score? Since 2016, they have been using reading instead of math score to caculate our points.

I am also waitlisted my points were

Science GPA 4.0: 4 points

General GPA 4.0: 2 points

Overall TEAS 91.3: 1.826 points

TEAS Reading 89.1: 1.782

Score : 9.608

I did attend the interview and I honestly left feeling pretty confident because I thought it was easy. I'm hoping it's how I mentioned in my last post how they did acceptances for Fall 2018.

If I calculated my quarter chemistry as a semester chemistry (some schools do this), then my score would be 9.53.

3.75 (Science)

4 (Gen)

1.872

1.906.

I'm thinking if the self-service is true for wait list applicants then I must've failed the communication exercise but I don't think I did if their main point was demonstrating communication skills and written and oral thoughts.. though I did not get an email confirming my waitlist status so I'll wait.

Wow, that's really strange. Fall 2018 they accepted their top 30 though, and you definitely have a score that could be top 30 -- especially if people are being accepted already with ~9.4 scores. Seems like they are either very disorganized or are making some errors. I'm still refreshing my e-mail every 10 minutes waiting for the official message.

I have a feeling they are doing it because of funding. At least that's what the forums of previous years say. But I believe if it says you are waitlisted, that you probably have a really good chance of being admitted. Some people haven't been admitted and instead waitlisted with scores that are higher than mine. I had a 9.42 and I got in. Unless you completely bombed your communication exercise, I think you're in the green. My question is, where are the darn emails? I hope it's true that if you are into the school, that means the you're into the SON. That seems to be the consensus though. I was able to activate myCSULB, but it wouldnt let me see the student center or open any of the the things. Weird.
