CSULA Fall 2015 Nursing Applicants (BSN BASIC)

Published

I've been reading the thread of CSULA Fall 2014 nursing applicants & wanted to start one for this upcoming CSULA Fall of 2015. I am extremely eager to know how many points people have. I have 24pts & am going to retake my TEAS this upcoming November. Those who are interested as well, please don't be afraid to comment!

Here are my stats!

Pre-req: 10 points

Overall gpa: 5 points

Reading teas: 3 points

English teas: 5 points

Volunteer: 2 points

25 points

Still upset that I scored so low in the reading section! I shouldn't have waited until the last minute :/

Volunteer hours I am cramming until march lol

Btw if I am taking micro and stats in the spring is that calculated in my gpa as a C? Or not at all?

Nice Points! However, I am not sure what your question is. I believe all pre-requisite grades must be in by march 26.

The six pre req courses must be completed by then but stats and micro can be completed by June 26th or 29th?

I see, it says June 29th. Are you retaking those classes? I'm not sure how they would calculate that if you've already taken them & recieved a grade. My guess is that they'd probably take your first grade then calculate them when the new grades are in, just a guess.

No I'm not retaking them...this will be my first time taking them. I know they're not counted in my pre req gpa but I'm wondering if they will be for the overall gpa. Is anyone else taking these in the spring?

Hello! (: I'm in the same boat as you regarding In Progress classes. I still have Biol 200B to do this current winter quarter and Microbio in the spring. I recently called CSULA's SON Student Services to ask about that because I know some other schools regard IP prerequisites as C's. However, I was told that those spring quarter (stats/microbio) prereq grades simply will not be counted towards your application GPAs. This is because we will already be informed if we are accepted or denied on April 1, long before the spring quarter can end. However, if you are accepted you must still pass both microbio and stats, and I assume that if you do not pass, your acceptance may be withdrawn to be fair to the other candidates who have already completed those classes.

My points are:

Pre-req GPA: 10pts

Cumulative GPA: 5pts

TEAS reading: 5pts

TEAS english: 3pts

Volunteer: 2pts

Total: 25pts

Interesting to see so many replies after the deadline has passed... Anyway, thanks for all the comments and for Ninja's post on all our scores. For people that are transferring in, do you guys know when we have to submit our official transcripts to the University iteself? The deadline says 2/25/15 and they recommend we send it in if our GET Student Center To Do List says so. So do we send them in, or wait for an official email from them?

Hi,

I called the Admissions office about 3 weeks ago to ask the same question and they told me I could send them in already.

Hey guys! I also applied to the SON :)

However, something made me upset. As it turns out, they use the percentile to calculate your points based on your TEAS. I got 100% on the English section, which should give me 6 points, right? Well you would think!

Since they use percentiles, I will only get 5 points because I am in the 99th percentile. I'm sure you guys have taken Stats before, and know that there is no such thing as a 100th percentile. I' so confused! I did not want to argue with the lady when I asked, but this does not seem fair to me at all! And, as you guys know, 1 point can make the difference between getting in or not :(

I've seen this come up many times but I still do not understand. What exactly do you / they mean when they grade the percentile? On the results, what exactly are they looking at? Do they look at Percentile Rank for the Program or National? Do they look at our AIS (Adjusted Individual scores)? I do not get it...most of us based our stats on our AIS...so they look at the percentage instead? Someone help clear this out!
