I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!
Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!
I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.
I think it will be the other way around. Those other programs are MUCH harder to get into, and in MUCH nicer locations/campises... a ton of highly qualified applicants got rejected from those schools..My bet is that most of them got turned down for their 1st choice at LB or CI, and will accept LA as their second choice.
UCLA only takes 10 transfers. To be accepted into fullerton, you have to be at least been attending fullerton for one year.
Lol and my counselor told me UCI accepted 1 transfer
This only makes my hypothesis stronger… It means even MORE competition for the very few schools available to transfer students… I didn't know (and I'm sure a lot of students are with me) about the limit on acceptances to various schools.
I would have applied to those schools, if I was worried about not being accepted to LA.
I wish everyone the best of luck… It's just my opinion on what will happen with the scores. It's all just a guessing game… it has been since we all first applied to the University…
We will find out soon enough…lol
Well I just got denied to Channel Islands as predicted so LA here I come.
See Draco, this is exactly what I'm talking about…. LA was the easiest school to get into..
And everyone applied to a very difficult program somewhere else, had LA as a 2nd option. And it is highly likely, as shown with Elkay and I, that people will be denied from their 1st, more difficult option.
Again, this is just my thought about the situation from what I have observed.. It's all a guessing game, and has been from the time we first applied to the university.
Some of us now know for sure, and the rest will find out soon enough..
:)
Although I haven't received any letter from the SON, I'm assuming I was denied. I've sent emails and have called and still cannot get in contact with them. If I was, through some miracle, even placed on the waiting list, I don't think I'd even have a chance of being bumped up with the amount of competition that we're seen. I'm gonna go the ADN to BSN route. Good luck to those of you that were accepted or are on the wait list hoping to be accepted. I'll still post my status once I receive a definite answer from the SON.
I did not even try to apply to the UC's, knowing the level of competition at that level over there and it's the same exact degree I did it not see the worth in even applying. At the end of the day we can just compare tuition costs. Even job wise people get jobs with degrees from the trade schools.
BUT, that doesn't mean a thing, we should still all be proud that we got accepted into CSULA, it's not like our work doesn't mean anything.

Please don't be offended. Of course we should be happy with our acceptances. But that does not change the fact that it was the easiest school to transfer to… I know because i was denied from my 1st choice… (and the prices are very similar…)
It is the level of difficulty at other CSU's that makes me believe that the competition at LA will be very high as well.
This is why I predicted the cutoff to be 24, and the wait-listed with 24's and maybe 23's will get in….
