Csula Fall 2014 applicants..

Published

I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!

Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!

I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.

buttload...lol

The accepted scores are actually pretty low. They are letting in GPA's in the low 3.1's and teas scores in the mid 70's. Even math scores admitted that were in the 70's in other app pools. THat is not nearly as competitive as I had thought.... This is good news for all of us...

:)

Hey guys! I submitted for a new thread for the ABSN/ELMN program starting in summer 2014 as well. When it is approved - you can find it under CSULA ABSN/ELMN 2014.

So I turned in my app at CSULB… I was expecting a studious director, wearing a suit, sitting in a nice office. Nope… she was a morbidly obese slobby lady in ragged clothes with cookies on her face… her office was like a large closet with paper piled all around to ceiling, and her desk was one of those fold out plastic tv dinner stands you buy at Walmart…. she had a plastic mail box next to her with more applications in it...

I thought she would put the app in a pile, but she just ripped it open right there and started going through it….lol

We'll see how that one goes…lol

Well I could have swore when I turned in my volunteer paper at csula that the lady threw it in the garbage lol I will be submitting another when I turn in my transcripts in a couple weeks

You all didn't turn in the volunteer/work letter in your application packet?

I didn't because I don't even think I started volunteering until after I turned in my app.

Does anyone know if/how they calculate an IN PROGRESS course into your score? I'm taking Micro in the spring…. Other schools count them as a 'C' in your GPA, and they clearly state that in their applications. I haven't found anything about CSULA doing this...

I don't think they count stats or micro... I hope not cuz I'm going to have both in progress in spring

What about for overall GPA? and both of those classes you mentioned are in the Pre-Req GPA; so, I think it would put those that have not taken the courses at an advantage, if not calculated.

I think that's why the others count it as a default C. To reward those that have already completed prior to application, and to have a baseline to give to those that have not completed them.

They don't count toward determining what your pre-req GPA is... I don't even think they count even if you've taken them... like they're part of the cumulative GPA only. but if you fail them, they can mess up your acceptance.

They are definitely part of, and counted in, the Pre-Req GPA..

It's a pre-requisite course, that's the definition of the Pre-requisite GPA. The GPA of the pre-requisite courses. (micro, stats, anat/physio, chem, speech, eng, critical thinking)

These are the only grades used to calculate that portion of your application score.

Overall GPA is self explanatory. But it does count all college courses, even non transferrable courses. I have a Music degree from another college. Even though there is not 1 transferrable unit, they will still compute all of the 90 units from that degree PLUS my transferrable 60 units into my Overall GPA.
