CSULA- ELMN 2012

Published

I thought we should start a thread for CSULA ELMN summer 2012 applicants since applications are due next month and I'm interested in talking to other people that are applying. Does anyone know how they choose acceptance- is it based on the same point system as their BSN program? Also, does anyone know if they look at cumulative gpa or just the last 60 semester/90 quarter units? There's a few quarters my sophomore year where I slacked off on some classes, but my last 2 years have been much better, so obviously I would prefer that to be weighed more. CSULA seems to focus more on grades than other schools I plan on applying to as there didn't seem to be much room for volunteer experience, certifications, etc. outside of the essay so I'm a little nervous. Anyhoo, I would love to get to know other people who are also applying & any info from people who have already went through this process before would be awesome : )

oops. it looks like the FB page i made is so secret that no one can access it! let me change the settings to "closed," meaning only members can see the posts.

Thanks for setting up the FB group, lilpeapods! I'll be forwarding the couple of emails I've received, to those who emailed me today. I'm getting over my FB phobia so I'll give it a try and let the social networking commence ;)

hi antidentit!

Hi tilapiacooker,

hehe. At the end of my interview as she walked me to the elevator, I made the statement "I hope the next time we speak, it will be with good news." Her reply was along the lines of "I am pretty sure it will be." and then gave me a wink and told me "remember the week of March 26th."

thanks antidentit =) congrats to everyone on their acceptance! i haven't heard from her yet, so i'm assuming i'm a lost cause.... just hoping i can learn from this to make my next attempt a successful one!

@tilapiacooker - those accepted have till April 2nd to give her their decision so it ain't over till it's over!!If I were you I'd contact K on Monday and express how much you want to be in the program and what you can do to get to the top of the waiting list. You've got nothing to lose. The fact that you got an interview is something to feel good about so don't be too hard on yourself!

@tilapiacooker - don't get too discourage. This is my second round of applying to schools (applied to UCLA and CSULA). What made me go back to CSULA (didn't even bother with UCLA after their rejection letter) was the fact when they wait listed me, they allowed me to talk to K and find out what I could do to make my application for the following year stronger. The fact the school and program offered such a conversation to occur, I thought was amazing and definitely put it as one of my top contenders. A year later, I got accepted to 3 schools and I declined to go to an interview to another school all because of the advice K gave me. I am sure things will happen when it is time.

@lilpeapods - already sent her an e-mail and did exactly that today... she responded within 30 minutes (she's SOO amazing like that!) and said that she'd call me, maybe on Monday...

would she call just to say i didn't get accepted?? i wonder....

@antidentit - thanks for the pep talk! i do agree that K's probably one of the nicest (and most helpful) program directors out there... this was my first ever interview for anything, so i was quite nervous going in, but she was so great and encouraging that it really calmed me down... granted, i probably still forgot to mention some things i should have, but the interview went smoothly. if i still get rejected in the end (knock on wood!), i'll know who to turn to =)

keeping all things crossed this weekend!

hi lilpeapods! congrats to you too and thank you for your response. i chose csula over ucla for the same reasons!! glad we're on the same page and looking forward to meeting you and everyone else. good luck everyone! i'll be adding the fb soon
