CSULA ELMN 2011

Published

Anyone else applied? I know they're supposed to notify us on April 1st but I'm curious if anyone who applied got any feedback yet. :)

I didn't have any courses in progress.

xluescluesx,

Yes. I still have a course in progress (Lifespan Dev). I spoke with Kathy prior to applying and she approved it. But I think I read that priority would be given to applicants who have already completed all the prereqs.

Well lifespan development isn't really one of the most important prereqs like anatomy, physio and micro so I don't know how much it'll affect your chances. Did Kathy email you back yet?

I've been considering canceling my interview. I'm going to think about it some more and if I decide to do it, I'm going to do it sooner than later so it'll give other students waiting a chance to get an interview. Meanwhile, I'm anxious to see what comes in the mail this coming week from UCLA...

By the way do you guys know how much this program costs? I can't find it online.

You're probably right. She hasn't emailed me back yet but I only emailed her Friday night. I'll give her call if I don't hear back from her by lunch time tomorrow.

It's admirable that you'd cancel your interview to give other applicants a chance but in my humble opinion, you should keep it. :) At the very least, it should be a great interview practice. You might even end up falling in love with CSULA. :)

I'm so nervous about UCLA. They were probably the most understanding of all the schools I've applied to. They emailed me when I was missing something and were very quick at responding to emails. It's actually my first choice but at 600 applicants, it's intimidating. Now I'm just eager to start my career and get into a program that will help me become a great nurse. I don't even care where I get in! I'd just be so happy that a school is taking a chance on me that I promised myself to do my best and try to be a top student. I've talked and thought about being a nurse for the past, I don't know, 6 years that I was actually proud when I finally became proactive and applied. :)

I'm still feeling down about my prospects but talking to people like you actually helps. Thanks for carrying on a conversation with me. If you're half as nice as you are online, I think you'd make an excellent nurse. Good luck!

Thanks for saying that, it's very nice of you. I'm so eager to get started as well. I'm so excited/nervous at the same time. I'm trying not to get my hopes up with UCLA, but it's so hard!!! Ugh, whatever happens happens at this point.

The reason I'm considering canceling my interview is because I was already accepted into Mount St. Mary's ABSN program, which was my second choice after UCLA. I'm a little worried about financial aid because FAFSA is giving me problems, which is why I was going to try to get into CSULA as a backup. MSMC is so expensive! However, if my financial aid works out then I'll just cancel as early as possible because CSULA won't tell me if I'm admitted or not until April, but by April MSMC already requires me to invest a lot of time and $$$$ getting pre-enrollment stuff done. Long story short, it all depends on financial aid! Lol we'll see what happens. It's very overwhelming.

I was actually very impressed with CSULA when I went to the campus. I kind if expected it to be ghetto for whatever reason. I went there twice, once to drop off my apps and then to take my TEAS and I loved it. Plus all the ELMN students love it there. When I was volunteering at a hospital, most of the new grads there graduated from CSULA and told me how great their clinical sites were. That's what made me want to apply there in the first place.

Sorry, I'm new to this blog.

ADEcstatic, will you let me know what Kathy says when you hear from her. I'm in the same boat as you and I'd like to know whether the interviewing process is over.

I spoke to Kathy and she said that she's still going through applications and she hasn't gotten to mine yet. Whew! I still have a chance! And you probably do too, jenn012345. If you really want to find out, try calling her. She read my email but she never got a chance to respond but that's when she said she hadn't gotten to mine yet.

That's great news!

It is indeed, xluescluesx. A glimpse of the silver lining in this looming cloud we shall call nursing applicationolus. :)

That's great news! Thank you so much for responding! I was starting to panic a little since I haven't heard back and people were already scheduling interview dates. Good luck to you, and hopefully we'll both hear from Kathy soon!

Awesome. That's good news guys!
