lilpeapods, just so you know, I had 3 prereqs (nonscience) in progress at the time of the interview :/! I think what matters the most is grades in the science prereqs.

I am also getting all of my health clearance stuff completed, do you know if we can use just original immunization records? Or do we have to get titers for all of them? I still have the shot records for hepatitis, ect.

I asked Ms. Hinoki and she would like us to get the titer shots in addition to our immunizations. The titer blood work is used to check your antibody and immunity also. I'm getting mines done at my school, along with my physicals and everything else. It came out to be $75.

I can't find it. Can you post a link to it ?

Cool, I tried to make a fb group a couples week back, but fb wouldn't let me create a group without inviting someone! Haha, but I can't find the one you created Sunshine! And I don't think we're allowed to post links, so maybe pm everyone? Lols, or we could just keep our faces a secret until orientation! :D

And what are titers? Why do I not know of this? I think I've already gotten all my immunizations from when I was small, and I think I have my boosters up to date also. Do we just ask the doctors/NPs to just fill out the forms with the dates they were completed? Or do I need to get these "titers" you all speak of??

Thanks.

The titers is to make sure we are still immune to the various diseases. it is not a shot that you get, but blood work to check the titer levels to verify that you are immune.

Titers are blood tests that show how much immunity you have to those diseases you were vaccinated against - sort of like the number of antibodies floating around in your blood. Try to get quantitative counts (e.g. numbers - not just "immune"). Sometimes people discover that they are no longer immune to stuff and need to get new shots, although I hadn't been vaccinated for anything since I was really young (bad reaction, fearful mother), and I still had everything in order!

Good luck! Looks like everyone is being responsible and starting on stuff early - let me just remind you that you'll need yearly physicals and TB tests (or CXRs if you test positive), and that means you'll be needing them around next Spring Quarter (it'll come sooner than you think!). Just something to keep in mind.:)

Thanks for the info everyone. Looks like I need to get titers asap!
