CSULA ELMN Fall 2009???

Published

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone out there has applied to the CSULA ELMN program for Fall 2009? Maybe we can discuss what everyone's heard about their application, interviews, TEAS scores, etc.

:wink2:

Thanks levoila! You end up answering all my questions for the day.

Good luck on your interview!

Thanks for the luck!! I'm still trying to figure out which path would be best, A-BSN or EL-MSN.

levoila: im beginning to think msmc might be a better choice than csun because graduating earlier (12 mo versus 15mo+9csu units) means you are earning a salary sooner AND you can apply to msn-np programs sooner...what do you think? you have to admit, msmc is more conveinant for us too...

I applied to MSMC for the Fall cohort, so it wouldn't make a difference in terms of graduating earlier for me. MSMC would be more convenient, but it would mean considerably more debt. I wouldn't mind paying more if the university had an amazing reputation that might open doors for me in the future, but I don't think that's necessarily the case with MSMC. I mean, I've heard great things about the program, I LOVED the campus--it's a lot closer to home, and I have a feeling that I would love the program, but I don't think it would make that much of a difference where I get the BSN. I'm thinking more about the MSN, since my goal is to become an FNP.

If I do the CSUN program, I think that I'd want to start an MSN program by Fall 2011 or 2012. I noticed that the some of the prerequisites for one program that I looked at have a three-year time limit, so that should work. I think it would be great to payoff my student loans before starting the master's program. I am really annoyed that we won't get any financial aid for the summer--I wonder if the same issue would come up with CSULA's program since it starts in the summer. Not having financial aid for the summer would mean that I would have to commute, which if I left early enough and hung out in the library afterward might not be so bad...

lev: do you mind if i ask how old you are? im 25 and feel like i am racing against time...

hahahah I'm older than you, but feel the same.

Hello!

If you've been accepted and have decided to go be a member of the 2009 Cohort for the ELMN program at CSULA, I'd love to connect with you. I am very excited to start nursing school this June, and I'm looking forward to working with all of you.

If you are, please reply to this post or email me at [email protected]. I'd like to start a Google group (or Yahoo group, I'm not picky), so we can start connecting.

If I don't hear from you, I guess I'll just meet you in May!

Congratulations, just.fran!! When did you find out? Has she already emailed the people who were accepted, or have you known for a few weeks?

Hey Just.Fran!

Congratulations, just.fran and ZooGurl3!

Well, I suppose I didn't get in.
