CSULA ABSN Summer 2021

Hi Everyone!

This is a forum for CSULA's Accelerated BSN program starting June (Summer) 2021. 

Applications just opened & are due in January. I was surprised that there wasn't a forum already created so thought I’d create one so we can keep each other updated ?

Hi everyone!

Less than 1 month until application is due!

 

I just wanted to double check with you all on a couple things.

 

1)The statement of purpose: Is there no official prompt? Just "address your reasons for entering the nursing profession, long term professional goals, and any characteristics or life experiences that you believe prepares you for success in this program."?

2) Did you all list your work experience over the last 7 years, even if it's all unrelated to Healthcare? I'm not sure what they are looking for here, and if I should be filling it out. Same for the professional or community involvement section.. I started volunteering at a food bank, but this is unrelated to healthcare, and I had no intent on putting it into any of my nursing applications, as it's just something I do.

I believe an 88% is really strong! I know LB has some of the most competitive scores and their average is 89 overall, 89 reading, so it's probably not higher for LA. As long as you have above 80% for each section, as CSULA doesn't look at the overall score.

Thank you, this puts my mind at ease a little bit!  I appreaciate you saying this. I am near Sac State, where their average is 97% (I know right??). So I guess my perspective might be skewed.

Hi, yes that is all they have for instrictions on statement of purpose.  As for work, I am going to just put all my work in the past 7 years.  And for community involvement.. I am not sure yet what I should put either!

Wow! I studied for 8 week and I don't thinking could ever score that high. I got s 93 and I never want to take the test again lmao.

 

Thanks for responding! I'm considering just fixing my resume and putting that in instead  since they said it's an option. That way they can see I have a CNA license, although haven't worked with it? I didn't want to do the resume before but I need to update it anyways to look for a CNA job. Plus CSUN requires one.

I just received an email confirmation from ----------------------- that all my components were received on 12/31 and I sent in my apps beginning of December. So, I think the review process is beginning! Just wanted to let y'all know.

Hi everyone, I just sent in my application on Monday.  I am so nervous and excited.  Does anyone know when they have said decisions might be coming out?  I have seen on past forums that it was sometime in late March.

I'm sending mine today and I'm also so nervous/excited about it all! The application procedure link on CSULA's website says decisions will be sent on or before March 26th. Good luck to you!!

Just mailed my application! I have trust issues with my local post office, so I drove 25 minutes to the post office nearest to the school lmao.

How do you all think the interview process will be conducted during the pandemic? Zoom interview?

I think so!  That makes the most sense to me, if not, then maybe outside with masks on?

Hi Everyone!

For the GPA portion of the nursing app, which GPA did you use. The institution's GPA or overall cumulative GPA that includes transfer courses GPA?

Hi, I believe it is your overall GPA from each school you have attended.
