CSULA ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Hi Everyone!

This is a forum for CSULA's Accelerated BSN program starting June (Summer) 2021.

Applications just opened & are due in January. I was surprised that there wasn't a forum already created so thought I’d create one so we can keep each other updated ?

Yours looks awesome too!  I am wondering what yours strategies for the TEAS were?  Your score is awesome!

I bought the Trivium test prep book off Amazon and made a bunch of flash cards as I went through it. I also just googled different practice tests so that I could get a feel for how in-depth I needed to know certain material. Oh also theres an app called TEAS pocket prep that was pretty helpful! Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

Hi There!

Been busy but here are my stats:

Prerequisite GPA: 4.0

Undergrad GPA: 3.72

TEAS: 90.7 (overall score) - reading killed me ? haha

Healthcare work: Project manager II at kaiser permanente

Volunteer: worked as a UCLA clinical care extender a few years ago but couldn't have current hours due to covid. Completed training for a current volunteer program

You all included yours transcripts in the packet too?  I wish I had known about double sets of transcripts I would have to send before taking prerequisites at so many different schools. This is going to be an expensive application ?

Also did you ask your LOR writers to print on official letterhead? I'm hoping that is possible for mine given that they're working from home during the pandemic!

Hey all! I sent in my apps and was wondering if we would get a confirmation email? I wasn't able to get volunteer nor healthcare experience due to covid so hoping for the best!

This is gonna be tough. All the schools I’ve applied to Duke ABSN and UW ABSN had record applications this year. UW had 600 applications and last year they had 300. All for 64 spots. I hope CSULA isn’t like that this year.

I was told that the LOR's should be on official letterhead!

Also, how are you all organizing your documents? I'm thinking of just putting it in a labelled folder

Good luck everyone!

I am probably just going to put everything in a manila envelope and send it through USPS so that I can track it. Hopefully presentation and stuff doesn't matter as long as everything is in there!

Hi everyone!

I just finished my last classes for fall, and the grades posted, so I was going to just send my official transcripts instead of unofficial ones. Did you guys have the school's mail them straight to CSULA, or did you mail them to yourself and include them in your application packet?

I mailed them to mysel to be included in the packet.  Remember to order TWO official sets from each school!!

OMG, thank you! I did almost forget. I was thinking of doing the same, I want to send big packet with a tracking number so I know they receive it.

Hi everyone, I took my TEAS today and I got an 88%.  I am really worried this won't be enough for acceptnce into the program.  Does anyone know what the average TEAS score of people accepted for this program it?

I believe an 88% is really strong! I know LB has some of the most competitive scores and their average is 89 overall, 89 reading, so it's probably not higher for LA. As long as you have above 80% for each section, as CSULA doesn't look at the overall score.
