Hi Everyone!
This is a forum for CSULA's Accelerated BSN program starting June (Summer) 2021.
Applications just opened & are due in January. I was surprised that there wasn't a forum already created so thought I’d create one so we can keep each other updated ?
Congrats to everyone who's been accepted and good luck to those of you still waiting!!
I was wondering if anybody knows if this program is strictly 15 months or if that's just like best case scenario? I was nerding out and reading the nursing handbook, which said that nursing students are not guaranteed a spot in the classes listed on the ABSN roadmap which made me nervous. I would hate to have to tag on extra months to this program if I'm not able to register for a class that I need. If anyone has any insight that would be great!

I know someone in the current ABSN cohort and I can ask her if she’s on track to graduate in 15 months. Where did you find this Nursing Handbook?

I had to do some digging to find it again LOL but its on page 14! It says "Because the campus is a tax-supported institution with limited resources, the school cannot guarantee any student the availability of needed/desired course/courses at any given semester."
That would be great if you could ask your friend if this is ever actually an issue or just something that they have to write in the handbook. There's not much info online as to what the program is actually like, so it would be great to hear from someone actually in it(:
That’s just a disclaimer, mostly referring to hospitals having the right to not accept students for clinicals due to unique circumstances such as a pandemic. Our cohort (#16) was the first to experience this - even with 5 months left of the program at the time. Most of our promised preceptorship connections at different sites fell through, therefore we were told that there was the possibility of a delayed graduation date. Thankfully, the faculty in your program work hard at not letting that happen (and yes our class graduated on time, even in the midst of the surge). So my advice for you now is to not worry about those details and trust that the school has your back. You’re not the only class they’re taking care of as there are the traditional BSN, bridge, and NP students. Focus on the fact that y’all are about to be new nursing students yay! Congratulations to the incoming cohort 18 ?

Thank you so much for your response! I'm leaning the most towards this school, but just trying to be as informed as possible before making this huge decision. You definitely made me feel better about it?

Hi @ultimatefrijol4! Congratulations, crossing my fingers for you! Did they say what position on the wait list you would be? CSULA was my dream school too, but I still haven’t heard anything. Feeling less and less optimistic as this week goes on, but still hoping for the best

Thank you ?? I hope things go well for us both!! They did not give me any specifics about my place on the waitlist. They just asked if I would like to be apart of it and said I need to let them know by March 31st. I replied already and I asked when I might know if anyone drops!

I just got accepted into SFSU, but I didn’t take the offer because Im staying with CSULA. I think there were some other applicants from the Bay Area who got into both schools, so if they go with SFSU some spots might open up for ya?

I was asked if I wanted to be pit on the waitlist as well, and asked similar questions. I will update in what she says!
Maybe it's for the best.. I just started working two 12s at night and I'm not sure if I could keep up with both with how accelerated the program is, especially Summer, and I really need the job.
Hoping that CSUF will accept me since their program is a little longer!
