CSUCI Nursing BSN Fall 2015

Published

Hi everyone... I decided to make a thread for all of us Fall 2015 applicants at CSUCI. I'm kind of surprised no one has done so yet. If anyone wants to, please list your stats and your point total so we can see who CSUCI let's into the program and try to figure out what the cutoff is this year in terms of points. It will help students in the following years understand their chances of getting into the program as well.

Here's what I have:

Core GPA=4.0= 9points (I got a W in physio)

Overall GPA=4.0=6points

TEAS English and Reading Score=98th percentile=6points

TEAS Math Score=100 percent= 5 points

Resident of Ventura= 4points

Military= 4points

Volunteer Hours= >200= 3 points

Total= 37 points

Hopefully you guys can post too. Good luck to everyone!

Here's the supplemental criteria info if you need to calculate your points: http://nursing.csuci.edu/programs/suppcriteria-2015.pdf

That was the competition 3 years ago unfortunately.

plus 2 years ago [2013] and {2014} and even includes 2015

I'm just not sure if it is FACTUAL Data

Hey future nurses, I have created this account on the purpose because if was surprised that i received an e-mail stating that " we had a competitive pool of applicants and regretfully your application was not accepted into the class of Fall 2015 ". I had 33 points total, according to the criteria and recieved an email April 2 about the nursing department receiving all my required supplemental items. From what i have read it seems the nursing department has - is not reliable at the moment. I was nervous 33 points was not enough points so i tried researching how much points would guarantee you accepted online and came across this website. I have checked the properties ( if you want to too) and it checks out to be a legit source from CSU channel islands. Check for yourself and please comment because i just dont know now that i was declined. (The file is a slideshow , please refer to slide 10). Wish for the best, thanks guys for your comments and output on the current situation.

I never got an email saying they received any supplemental criteria ever. This may explain why I was rejected since I don't think any of my stuff was reviewed.

That being said, I spoke to one of the people that works in nursing office last year before applying and he told me that historically 32 points would get you in. Pretty sure that average will stay about the same give or take a point. That's why it was kind of odd that I wouldn't get waitlisted having 37points.

According to the slideshow - slide 10

2015 enrollment statistics

Accepted point range: 31-42

How you did not get accepted runstohousebeats is beyond me.

Again, I am not sure if the source is reliable, just like the nursing department. But anyone can check out the properties themselves of the slideshow

Also , OP, do you recommend others to call the office or show up to the office to dispute the e-mail. SInce they did take you into consideration and were open to discussion about your status.

Thats not for us, its for the graduating class of 2015 which means that was 3 years ago.

Just an update...

I just got an email saying that the CSUCI nursing dept has received my transcripts from my past colleges. Seeing as how I never received these emails before, I'm guessing they never reviewed my application. This is pretty upsetting.

Update to the update.....

Got emails saying they verified my volunteer and prior military experience.

This definitely tells me that my application had never been looked at till now. :madface:

I never got any of those emails as well but i was accepted as an alternate.

I think (based on the e-mail I got after turning in my online portion of the application) they only sent out e-mails about documents not being received in order to notify people that they had been rejected from the nursing pool, "As applicants are removed from the applicant pool they will receive an e-mail notifying them that they have been removed from the applicant pool". I personally never saw anything about being notified when they had received our documents, perhaps that is being I turned them in by hand because I live on campus. Also, I never read or heard anything about being notified once our hours etc. had been verified. I know I had a low amount of points (29) but should I go to the office and ask if they ever looked at my supplemental criteria? I was rejected today but I guess I' m not sure if I should see if they looked at my application at all? I am surprised that people with scores above 30 got rejected. I really thought the lowest scores would be lower than in past years because of the CLEP add on as well as the changes made to the TEAS score points.

I am very frustrated with this program. It is probably the most impacted program at CI and it feels as though they have done nothing in order to expand it. They keep accepting students yet will not make more opportunities for us in the nursing department. Also, hearing about how secretive they are even about something that they messed up on is ridiculous. I am in disbelief that they had the gall to recall acceptance e-mails, let alone make such a mistake when their deadline was extended.

I received 4 emails from the nursing department on April 8th, notifying me that they got my work experience, TEAS scores, and transcripts. I haven't received one email from the nursing department today. I don't know if I'm accepted or denied and I never received the recall email either. I feel nervous and confused, especially since other people received emails from them. Does anyone have any new information?

Nothing yet.. positive thoughts!!!

Ok cool. I just thought maybe they forgot about me lol. Hopefully soon then... Fingers crossed and positive thoughts :)
