How many here has applied for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at CSULA?
I know it is a little bit early to talk about this, but I just submitted all of my grades, TEAS scores (ATI sends them to CSULA SON for you), and notification of health care work experience (dental assistant) from an employer.
It has been a long and anxious wait till April/May for letters of acceptance to come in, so I hope this thread can help everyone who is dealing with the same anxiety and stress that we are all dealing with.
So If anyone would like to share their overall "points" score, or questions regarding pre-reqs TEAS etc. I would be alright to share all of you mine, and answer some questions that I might know.
Thanks and godspeed everyone!
yeah, well the exciting side of CSULA is where the bookstore and Student union is located in. if you were walking where Simpson tower (nursing Dept) is located at, there is not much there lol
alright my man!
I'll be sure to put my alias "suave" on my name tag for sept 21!
it would be great if everyone did too so I could finally meet you all!
Oh, there was one thing I did find interesting at CSULA. As I was walking past the Bookstore and the Kennedy building by the courtyard, there was a banner about a "Cinco de Mayo" celebration on Friday, May 6. From the looks of it, there may be some salsa music. Salsa music!!! I'm all over that! So I will be dropping by next week to "spy" on your activities.
from what I know, once you get the supplemental application, you can submit it anytime BEFORE the deadline of that year.
You get handed a supplemental application? I thought you just download and print it from the website....
if its like last year, I believe the checklist says something like
_________ if you are a CSULA student; CIN:_________
_________ if you are transfer, you applied to CSULA on:________________
and thats where I am confused, I want to apply at the earliest, which I believe is sept 1st but i cant apply to the university until oct 1, i want to turn it in early to just do it and to reserve a spot to take the TEAS there... I bet it will get filled up fast as far as seats.
well i guess when the time comes ill call unless one of you transfer students (who was accepted:p) could give me an idea of the dates you applied to the school AND the SON...
CSULA is not a bad campus...I have been there, but I only got half why around to as far as admissions for turning stuff in, but not any farther cause I withdrew my acceptance. but i know there is a lot of activities, but might want to relax and attend as much as possible because you will basically off-limits once fall quarter starts!!!!
btw any transfer students take nutrition yet? i heard its a pre req to the first quarter and my school doesn't offer it, so i am thinking its a co req for first quarter
any info yall let me know!!!!
Hey all:
My first posting on this thread but very informative...THANKS. I applied for RN - BSN Fall 2011. No communication at all from SON although I haven't checked my mail today yet. Deposit due on Monday but I don't know if I'm accepted yet....??? Hmmmm..... I'll go check my mail.
Then again I might just do another major since I am kind of OVER nursing school right now (six weeks away from finishing ADN). Don't get me wrong - I love nursing but nursing school... It's really amusing at times :hdvwl:
I figure I can always do Track II MSN for ADN with non-nursing bachelors. Congrats to all that have gotten in to the program. You will love it. Now I would just like to WORK, that's where the real learning is at.

WELCOME!
Congrats on getting accepted and graduating to an ADN (which one if I may ask and how is it going?) I hope you get accepted to the RN-BSN
Have you found a job yet? Try looking into new grad programs! Jobs are hard to come by so good luck!
You get handed a supplemental application? I thought you just download and print it from the website....
the supplemental application IS the online application that you download. You fill in the app, if you are a transfer, just check that slot if you are. lists the courses that you completed and register for the teas ASAP once the Fall 2012 apps are available to print online. when you are finished with ALL pre req courses for admission, you hand in your transcript to the department to confirm your pre req scores for the admission process.
Although I didn't take nutrition, they will let you take the other pre reqs during your nursing classes, I.e. NTRS 250 ANTH 444, because you only take 10-11 units of nursing program courses per quarter 3 times (that's why it takes 3 years to graduate)
thus, I'm taking NTRS 250 in the fall 2011, since it is NOT available in the summer, so I'm taking it as a co-req when I take my courses in the fall

SO basically turn in the SON application ASAP and of course apply to the school as soon as it opens up....SO i apply to the nursing school before I apply to the actual school....
it just seems weird that they open the nursing school applications a month before transfers apply to the school
if I could i would have applied to csula sooner and just taken some bs courses while i finish the real pre reqs (all i have left is crit thinking and intro to psych which i am doing this summer, so all pre reqs including micro and speech are done by the time i apply:))
ok and I will take the nutrition and anthro classes as co reqs. I will be quitting my job once i get accepted to a NS so doing more than fulltime will actually be doable for me :) for once lol
alright
how about all the other people who are transfers that applied and got accepted....
when did you apply to CSULA the school only
when did you apply to CSULA SON
were you able to take the TEAS @ CSULA, if not where did you take it? Was it V or version 4?
I heard version V is hard, harder than version 4.....but that was the science.... all CSULA needs is the reading and english any tips from you guys to get at least 4-5 points for the TEAS portion....I need to make up for my bad overall GPA...(only going to get 2-3 points MAX )
well its all speculation but I am a researcher and so I want to know as much as possible to prepare....plus I am doing micro notecards and I am pretty bored LOL

yes, i am a transfer student, the product of our fine community college system. i think the $100 deposit applies to all students as stated here:
upon an offer of admission to the university, a non-refundable enrollment confirmation deposit (ecd) of $100.00 (usd) is required of all newly admitted and returning undergraduate and graduate students who plan to enroll at cal state l.a. for their admitted term. the enrollment confirmation deposit will be applied towards your first quarter tuition fees.
to reserve your space, please submit the deposit by the respective quarterly deadlines:
winter 2011
all undergraduate students: november 29, 2010
all graduate students: november 29, 2010
spring 2011
all undergraduate students: february 15, 2011
all graduate students: february 24, 2011
summer 2011
all undergraduate students: may 18, 2011
all graduate students: may 18, 2011
fall 2011
all undergraduate students: may 2, 2011
all graduate students: july 15, 2011
i need to rephrase my last two sentences: "at the same time, i took a stroll around campus to get a feel for the place, and imagine myself as a student there. not terribly exciting, i'm afraid; but then again, it was friday evening."
by this i meant that i took a walk around campus and found it boring, but that may be because it was friday evening when most students are gone. at no time did i feel afraid or unsafe. and yes, i'm a guy, and yes i was being a little jovial in my reply to beachbedhead.
i'll be sure to introduce myself to you at the orientation on september 21.
