CSCC response time for online track

U.S.A. Ohio

Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how long it took to hear back about the online track applications? I have been reading several posts on here and it seems like the traditional takes about 3 months to hear back and I just wondered if that was the same for the online? I have seen where several people have been accepted to the traditional Sp'11 class and they will be receiving information in Dec. I applied for the online track on Monday and am curious to know when I should start stalking the mailman.:)

I have no idea, but look at it this way. It took them 3 months to send out letters when everyone who applied was guaranteed to get in. With the online track, they actually have to review the applications.

Anyway - I wish you the best of luck. I hope you get a quick response. I know the waiting game is horrible and I hope you get in. I'm switching to the online program after my first quarter and it would be great to already know a classmate or two :) I just found out yesterday I was accepted to the Spring 2011 traditional program.

Thanks for the warm wishes and congrats on getting in for Spring. I think CSCC is receiving a ton of applications right now. (more than their usual) the system actually crashed on Monday for the online track application and I guess that does not normally happen. I know their were around 8 of us in my Nurc 102 class this summer applying and there are 4 people in my Bio 215 class right now who applied. I think there is really going to be a lot of competition for the 40 slots.

I just hope that we know my x-mas, so I can apply traditional in Jan if needed.

You should - orientation is in January for the March 2011 class :)

I'm pretty sure even if you don't know by then that you can still apply traditional track while waiting to hear about your online track application. You can have both applications out there, but once you accept one offer the other one goes away.

I'm applying for the online track next quarter in February for (supposedly!) the Autumn 2011 class. If I don't get in, I'm seriously going to consider Mt Carmel's SDAP, though I have no idea how I'm going to fund that 13 months of school + not working - still better than waiting until possibly 2013 to start at CSCC.

The online program is competitive admissions so if you are accepted, you definitely get into the class you applied for. The traditional program lets everyone in who meets the basic requirements. The next application date for traditional is in January but that isn't for start dates until March 2012 or August 2012. I feel very fortunate that I applied in July 2010 and got in for the very next start date of March 2011.

Be sure to check with the nursing program about this.

I had a friend apply in the fall to the online program. When she applied in the spring to the traditional program, they pulled her online application. There may be more to the story, but that's the story as I know it.

Oh wow! I was told numerous times by the generic HHPS academic advisors to be sure to apply for both, "just in case". That's good to know. I know the program at CSCC is great, and it's so affordable, but sometimes it just makes me want to pull my hair out! If/when I get accepted with a start date I feel like I'll be so less stressed than I am now.

I would meet with someone more nursing specific - they have a lot better information. I would also advise calling the nursing dept directly. When I took NURC 102, my professor also taught in the nursing department and she was also a great source of information. I have heard that an acceptance to one program cancels out any pending applications on another but I have gotten a variety of information whenever I ask questions there so best to get something in writing from someone in the dept directly!

I applied in December and heard back in February I think. Don't let what everyone says discourage you. I slept in that day and applied 30 minutes after it opened and still got in. I love the online program. It works for me since I work night shift and have a 5-year-old in kindergarten. I couldn't do the traditional with all the time you have to sit in class. The only thing you have to do that they don't require in the traditional is discussion boards and some case studies. In fundamentals you have to do a communication and learning paper. At first I cringed at the thought of having to cite and reference my stuff but I am used to it and enjoy it now. You will definitely be prepared to do your RN to BSN in the online program. Good luck!

I have heard from several students in the online track that they love the flexibility of listening to lectures anywhere and that the discussion board requirement is actually really helpful. As far as the research paper goes, I will be getting a trial run at that this quarter in Microbiology (Bio 215) we have to write a 5 page research paper on the pathogen of our choice complete with footnotes and citations.

I'm still waiting to hear whether or not I was accepted. I feel anxious about it because I have met so many other really great people who also applied and I know some of us will not make the spring cut. Oh well, fingers crossed, if I don't make it I'll just try again for Fall and assume everything happens for a reason.:D

I'm anxous to hear about who gets in for spring for online because you guys will be my classmates soon as I'm switching to online after first quarter! :) good luck to everyone!
