Morning,

i wonder what your views are regarding wearing of these crock shoes in a healthcare setting,

thanks,

I'm torn on this. I see the need for comort for Nurses who are on their feet all day, but i'm against this whole thing with holes in your shoes. I've seen it happen at my work, people get peed on or step in something. I just have to say, me personally, I wouldn't wear them. Don't find them clean or comfortable at all. But if you wanna do it , you're more than welcome to do so but don't complain to me when something warm and wet is in your shoes.

Thanks for listening. :-)

I own several pairs of crocs and love them!!! :) As for the holes in the shoes concern, I invested in a pair of their 'professional' shoes, you can find them on their website and in various nursing scrub catalogs. They have no holes and are just as comfortable as the ones with them. :)

Hope that helps.

In my hospital you are not allowed to wear crocks with holes. Why anyone would want to, I don't know. I'd be afraid of something getting on my feet. Accidents happen, I've had my shoes pooped and peed on by a patient as I was walking them to the bathroom-I'm thankful my shoes did not have holes! They do make crocks with no holes now. Personally I want rollerblade work shoes

I don't like them because they're not comfortable to me...BUT- I don't understand what the deal is with the holes? If someone has tennis shoes with mesh portions- noone thinks anything about it. I don't understand why then holes in the rubber is bothersome.

Our clothes are also not rubber and waterproof. If my ankle gets peed on it's ok- just not my feet??

ok I write this as I am wearing crocks(with holes)...

Yes I have been peed on. With crocks you can take them off wash them down with antimicrobial spray borrow some slipper socks and you are back to work. With tenis shoes with mesh the pee soaks in and your out of luck for the rest of the night.

Now with that being said they are terrible for your feet, back, and joints. They don't offer good support at all for people who are on their feet for 12 hours. Knowing this I still wear them out of laziness.

In my experience the BEST nursing shoes are dansko clogs.

I have osteoarthritis and other joint problems, have had no sick time at all since wearing crocs and my back feels much better.

As regards the holes, the professional ones I wear at the moment have no holes on top but do have vents on the side.

Sadly we have been told we are not allowed to wear crocs anymore.

I wore crocs (the ones without holes) and had to stop because they felt unsafe, nearly slipped over so many times because they are hopeless in wet areas. I agree that you shouldn't wear the ones with holes in a health care setting because they are unsafe. A nurse at my work got a needlstick after dropping a syringe which went through one of the holes and pierced her foot....

me too! i wish they made these http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/14157296/c/755.html for adults...i'd almost be tempted to see if i could get away with them at work. every time i walk down the loooong hallway to the lab for blood i fantasize about wearing a pair of skates!

crocs are great for my feet. danskos are great for my back. my sneakers usually win 'cause they're somewhere in between. oh, i and i wouldn't wear the ones with holes to work either.

I haven't worn crocks and know there are people who swear by them for comfort but they just don't look like they could offer the proper support to me. Whatever works for you though! :)
