crock shoes.

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

Morning,

i wonder what your views are regarding wearing of these crock shoes in a healthcare setting,

thanks,

ken.

To me the ones without holes look professional, but they dont seem to be slip resistant and im a natural clutz. plus i dont think i would enjoy wearing them for 12+ hours as i dont like wearing any shoe 12+hours :p

I agree with sassyjenn. You can clean crocs. But with tennis shoes you can't. I have also heard someone got a stick in the foot with tennis shoes on.

I have gotten pee on my clothes and I have gotten poop on my arm. What is the big deal about getting anything on washable shoes. Go figure.

For all those facilities that do not allow crocs, I would like for them to support why it is not allowed with info that makes sense. If they just do not like them then that is their option.

Side note: I have a pair of crocs and do not like them. I tried wearing them to work and everything about them for me was wrong. But I support the person who wants to wear them if it is right for them.

We are allowed to wear them and most of our staff does but we have a several nurses fall because they don't have any grip if the floor is wet.

I actually find they can be too slip resistant, as in "croc stop".

I agree that you shouldn't wear the ones with holes in a health care setting because they are unsafe. A nurse at my work got a needlstick after dropping a syringe which went through one of the holes and pierced her foot....

And the same thing can happen to tennis shoes as well. Or my arm, or my ankle or any other 'exposed' part of my body.

Nobody has ever come up with a convincing argument against the holes in crocs.

Like mentioned before, if I get pee in them (never happened in 5 years of wearing crocs) then I simply wash the shoes  ! But the mesh on tennis shoes doesn't wipe away.

And the needle thing can happen to any shoe. Do we really think a needle won't pierce the mesh? Or bounce to my ankle? And who is dropping all these needles?

Have never had anything fall on or in my crocs. I have, however, had the infamous 'croc stop'.

So thats whats its called. I do it all the time..but of course it never stops me from wearing them.

crocs come in cool colors, or neutrals if desired.

i agree with the cleaning issue, i work direct care and i like to give a good

shower. with crocs, if feet get wet just wash and dry them out

(a couple of minutes tops) put on a fresh pair of ankle socks and your good

to go. so this allows me to access body area's better since scrubs dry

quickly. if wearing tennis shoes, i have to be extra careful not to get

them wet.

you can slip with crocs, or any other shoe for that matter. exercise care.

crocs manufacturers, listen up! better tread on crocs?:typing
