Hello,
I'm new to this site but am finding it really useful! I'm canadian but did my nursing degree in the UK, and I currently practicing in England. I'm due to sit the CRNE on the 7th October and have read some scary posts on its level of difficulty. I have the study guides and will continue to study for the next 8 weeks until I fly over to toronto to sit it. I'm extremely nervous....anybody got any further pointers for me????
I can't wait for my family to start our life in Canada pending me passing this exam (so no pressure Eh!)......and a new job in toronto would be great!!!!!
Good luck to all of those that are sitting it the same day as me!
just know that both of my best friends...cannot make it this time. They missed 3 points and 5 points. I am very sorry to hear that. I wish that we will pass...They are going for 3rd attempt in Feb. Wish the best luck to them.
Do your friends have msn? They from ontario? We;re all in the same boat. Maybe we can support each other.
Thank YOU sheng31. I hope I'm still eligible in 2011! I may not still be working in PICU by then if our working conditions keep deteriorating...Patience, everyone. You'll have your results by the end of the week.
Hi janfrn. What did you mean by "if working conditions keep deteriorating"?
I also have another question. If I'm going to submit the application for a Certificate of Registration here in Ontario, will this be valid for a year or do I have to pay another registration fee for the year 2010?
Yes I passed, thank God!!! For those who did not pass I recommend that you take a preparation course. I initially failed the June exam and I was shocked. I know what some of you are feeling now. I took a course in Toronto, I took it for one month and it helped me a lot. For those of you who were unsuccessful the first time around invest your money into the program!!!! It may seem like a lot, but when you become an RN your first pay check will cover those expenses. If anyone needs more info, just ask.
Oh Lord thank you soo much! I passed...just open my envelope here in London, ON...it is 11:30 am. This was my second attempt. KingCarlos I couldn't agree more. I also took a course in TO for an entire weekend and it really helped me a lot. To those who failed, please don't be discouraged. Just try harder next time. If I can give any advice on my study strategies and the books/material I used please PM me, I will be very glad to help. I've been there and know exactly how it feels. I am new to this site ans still can't send private messages. I have some good tips that worked for me.
The endless waiting is OVERRRRRR!

I meant that the working conditions on our unit have been difficult for a long time but recently they've gotten much worse. We're so short-staffed all the time that we're running the unit on overtime. There is no commitment to mentoring new staff or respecting senior staff. Communication has dwindled away to mass emails berating all of us for mistakes someone else has made or missives from upper management filled with directives and notices of "efficiencies" being instigated. Continuing education is a farce, scheduling is very inflexible and we're always expected to do more with less. With the hiring freeze now in its 7th month, it's only going to get worse. So I may be seeking greener pastures.
To your second question, each province has its own renewal date. When you obtain initial registration, unless it states otherwise, it will expire on the province's renewal date. In Ontario that renewal date appears to be January 1. So if you were to register today, your registration would need to be renewed before the end of next month... and another registration fee paid. This is exactly what happened to me when I moved to Alberta. I began working on September 9 and the registration year ends on September 30 so I had to renew my registration before I'd actually received it. So I paid for registration that year in Manitoba and twice in Alberta, about $900 in all. If you have the option of waiting until the renewal date to register, you'd save yourself a bit of money.
Ouch! That sounds awful. I understand how it feels when the unit is short-staffed. It can be a disaster, yeah. I'm sorry to hear that.
Thank you for answering my question. I guess I'll just have to wait til I find a job before I'll submit the initial registration application. I went for an interview in Telemetry/Medicine Ward 2 months ago. The manager who interviewed me said I'm better off in ICU. She spoke to the HR department on my behalf but they don't have any job vacancy in ICU at the time. I followed up with them last month, still none. And again yesterday, still same reply. This hospital is just 5mins away from where we live. Another hospital is about 25 mins drive away. Checked their website. Nothing. I wonder if there is aslo a freeze in hiring here in our area

Congratulations Eboutro :)
I'll definitely post my result, petgroomer. You think I'll get the result a day ahead of you, eh. hahahaha...Alberta is posting the result this week. How about Ontario?! I guess I'll just have to bite my nails...hehe
Sheng31, I was right: just got my results a day after you: and I PASSED!!!!!
I'm so happy guys, I've thanked the Lord, all the Saints, my family (mentally because they're physically far from me now), my dog (who is sitting on my lap and doesn't have a clue), and I said a prayer for those who failed this time so that they get their happy news soon:loveya:
I'd like to thank you guys for your support...this thread has helped me cope with the pressure of the CRAZIEST exam I've ever been through.
Let's all keep wishing the best for the people who are still waiting, like DEMS in England.
Also, I'd like to thank janfrn for the info on the registration: I'll be traveling for three weeks in December, so I've no point sending my application now:twocents:
