Hello,
I'm new to this site but am finding it really useful! I'm canadian but did my nursing degree in the UK, and I currently practicing in England. I'm due to sit the CRNE on the 7th October and have read some scary posts on its level of difficulty. I have the study guides and will continue to study for the next 8 weeks until I fly over to toronto to sit it. I'm extremely nervous....anybody got any further pointers for me????
I can't wait for my family to start our life in Canada pending me passing this exam (so no pressure Eh!)......and a new job in toronto would be great!!!!!
Good luck to all of those that are sitting it the same day as me!
Congratz to everyone who passed.Unfortunaltey, I'm not one of them. I'm speechless right now. Everyone is sharing their good new and I'n totally one the opposite side. This was my second try and nothing. I did even worse that the first one. I don't understand how, I studied alot more and did a course but did worse second time around. I feel so lost. I don't even know what to think anymore. I feel so sad and discourage. I totally feel like a failure. I;m not sure if I want to even take the last one try. Anyways, the deadline for the next exam was two days ago and I just got the result today. I feelll so sadddddd. I'm so lost. I truly wish I'm everyone here. This is one of the worse days of my lifeeeeee
I'm very sorry to hear that! but please don't lose faith...don't give up just yet! I know of so many people who made it after their last chance. Just wanted to let you know that if you're considering retaking the exam in Feb you should call the CNO because the deadline has been extended. Just take your time to decide what to do next. Important decisions should not be made when you're upset and feeling hopeless. I do believe everything in life happens for a good reason although it may not seem like it. After every storm a rainbow appears.

I forgot to mention that I'm from Markham.
I'm so sorry to hear the sad news kay_84 but don't lose hope. The next exam may be your last chance but you'll never know maybe you'll make it next time around. Just keep studying and focus on understanding the rationales of each question. I will include you in my prayers kay_84 and those who are going to sit the next exam. God bless.
I got my result this afternoon and I passed!! I am so relieved and happy for all those who were successful as well. Great job! I started reading this discussion not too long ago and recently became a member... and it has been comforting to share this experience with so many others going through the same thing. I wish those who were not successful all the best- don't give up, pray, and build on the areas of weakness. I know someone who finally passed on the third try... so u never know 2nd time, 3rd time... could be the charm!
Both of my friends who failed the exam are Canadian graduates. Kay_84 please don't give up. Even though my friends they didn't make it this time, they did much better than the first attempt...so the review courses are helpful. So please don't lose your hope...Hang in there! I know that so many people out there pass in their 3rd attempt.
Congratz again to all the passers :)
Thank you sheng31, so tomorrow will be my day, I need not forget to ask for the mailbox key in the morning, lol.
I'm so desperate because I'm draining confidence: meaning, I've got no confidence left
I'm truly sorry to hear the news kay-84. Don't give up, if you made it through nursing school you'll be able to go through this. I remembered watching the Olympic games many years ago: one of the cyclists who got in the finals through "repechage" eventually won the gold medal. He did finished first on the final race. You too will make it, i'ts just that your opportunity hasn't come yet.
Those who did not pass...did you use the CNA prep guide to study? Just curious. It seems it is the closest thing to the real thing and when you look at the Rationale to the question that is the best way to prepare. Honestly the exam can really be on anything so a lot of study may not be the best solution to being more successful in future. My experience with those who fail nursing exams seems to be control of anxiety more than anything else. I had a hard time really studying because I have always felt "either you know it or you don't" and so hard to know where to focus. Doing about 100 questions a day for a few weeks ahead does seem helpful. But too much in one day may not help you absorb the material any better. I was given that advice for NCLEX that practicing questions is helpful so you get used to answering multiple choice questions (as if we didnt do enough of that in nursing school already...LOL). I did this as a new grad but now after practicing nursing for three years I could not motivate myself to study as I had formerly and was still successful. I just had to brush up on the type of question being asked especially since I don't always agree with the Rationale and wanted to prepare for a slightly different angle with the Canadian approach especially since I did not study nursing in Canada (although I am Canadian and lived in Canada until I was 38 so may have had that advantage understanding the Canadian way of life and perspective). Hope this is helpful....I have worked with many nurses that did not pass the first time, and some not even the second time and they are fabulous nurses. And in all cases of those I have known it came down to testing anxiety. Do whatever you can to control that and it should help!!!
Yes! I PASSED! Thank you Lord. I was shaking when I saw the CNO envelope from the mailbox and I was afraid to open it. I'm still crying for joy right now. Petgroomer, I made it. Hope you will get good news too.Congratulations to all of us who passed and sorry to those who didn't make it. Good luck next time.
Congratulations sheng31. Me too I passed.... It's celebration!!!!
