CRNE October 2010

Published

Hello every1,

I am going to take CRNE in October 2010. I need your tips and suggestions. I am registered with CARNA (Alberta board of Nursing) but going to take my exam in Toronto. I guess CRNE is standardized exam and is same all over Canada. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you

lol

now im confused

oct exam has experimental questions or not?

June definately did, cuz it was 208 questions with 17 experimental questions, passing was 121

Oct exam is out of 200 questions with a pass of 118, does it have experimental questions or not? it it does not, 118/200, its 59%, if it has 17 experimental questions again, its 118/183, then it is 64.5% passing

my friend picked it up from associatin of registered nurses prince edward island. she went there 2 check if d result was out and was told thy were abt 2 post it out so she cllected hers by hand. it wasnt mailed out t her

Again, it really doesn't matter what percentage the pass mark is. It'll be somewhere betwen 59 and 68% no matter how many questions there were, because that's the standard CNA has set.

That's very interesting. It would NOT happen with any other College in the country. So before you all jump in your cars or head for the bus stop for a trip down to the College office to see if they'll give you yours, remember, PEI only had SIXTEEN candidates so the clerk only had at most 16 envelopes to sort through. Every other province will have far more and they will NOT sort through them to find yours or anyone else's. In fact, this could create problems for the PEI staffers if word gets out that they did it.

Has anyone spoken to CNO about when the results will be mailed. They seem to be vety busy coz i tried calling but I was on hold for too long that I ended up hanging up the phone coz I had to step out. Will try to call again later. Was just wondering if anyone did call them.

very interesting. I just called CNO and I was told that the results are not in yet. I'm sure if we all call, we'll keep getting contrasting information. Guess we just have to wait.

Please, please, please DO NOT call CNO. They don't have the manpower or the time to talk to 1,000 people who are impatient for their results. The person who answers the phone may or may not know anything about the results... for all you know it could be the janitor. And their office staff have far more urgent things to deal with, such as patient complaints, employer requests for confirmation of registration, lobbying for safe staffing and adequate funding and sorting through the hundreds of applications for registration that pour in every week. Oh, and let's not forget, renewing the registrations of more than 154 THOUSAND nurses who are in the process of renewing right now. You all need to chill out. You'll get your results when they arrive and not a second sooner, no matter what you do.

Very well said, cant be said in a better way. lets wait patiently.

please stop saying not to call the college of nurses of ontario.... it is their job to answer these queries: we paid big money for the exams... at least if they care about them not answering the phone, they could put a small note on their website saying the exams have not been mailed out yet.... if they know lot of people call, why dont they give us updates on their websites, they are lazy.... and i dont understand why it would take more than a month to send the results of an exam that is graded on a computer? the process is easy. They are just faking that it takes them time to do a task (as usual in some organizations) so that no one tells them u have more staff than needed

I totally agree with this! We wait in agony for 6 weeks, the least they could do is keep us updated on their website. In BC they post on their website "results have been sent out" and they put the date. They give you 100 different answers when they actually answer the phone. We pay enough money to them to write this exam; I feel we deserve to know. I know we can be annoying calling and asking but this is a hard time.

Colleges of nursing's "job" is to regulate the practice of registered nurses and to protect the public. The CRNE is only a small part of that. Yes, you paid a lot of money to write the exam, but those nurses who are currently renewing their registration have paid many more dollars to maintain their registration. Should they be asked to wait while somebody speaks to yet another impatient person on the phone? And is it really necessary for any of the Colleges to hire extra staff to answer the phones for a total of about 6 weeks a year? Would you want to be the person who answers the phone? They could post updates on their website but perhaps no one has suggested it to them.

There are many posts in previous CRNE threads that explain the process of marking the exam and the reasons for why results are received at different times in different provinces so I'm not going to explain it all again. As we've seen many times before, knowing that results have been mailed on X day really doesn't make the wait easier and in fact there follows hundreds of posts about how the mail didn't bring them today either... maybe tomorrow. It gets old.
