Hi,

I wrote the exam in June and passed. One thing I can tell you is that I walked out of that exam in tears because I was sure that I failed. That was a hard exam, I must say, but many of us did pass. Most of you will walk out of the exam thinking "What the ****", but do not worry yourself too much. What I did was I took a course at Toronto School of Health (near Fairview mall), that was really helpful. I also did A LOT of practice question, using the Mosby books. Go through the practice questions, and studying is important. If you have a comprehensive guide you can study, that would be good; however, don't go too into it as the book can be overwhelming. Remember ABC's at all times. For psychosocial questions... usually the answer will be "how do you feel about that?" "can you tell me more about how you feel", stuff like that. Know your lab values, I believe they asked a question on that. Making cue cards were helpful for me... I guess the best you can do is just go through practice questions and go through a comprehensive guide. Time management is also IMPORTANT... when I was doing practice guides, I did them like a half an hour early or something, but during the exam I finished exactly 2 minutes before the end so time yourself.

Goodluck!

Oh you are very correct on time management, I think my failure was as a result time management. I was seated in the front roll, very distracting and we were told that they cannot make any seat change so I was stuck. I had about 20 something questions to go when it was like 5mins to end of exams. I hurriedly shaded these answers.

I am not sure how this thing work about feelings after the exams. When I walked even though I knew I didnt finish, I felt like I did well, that I will pass. Most of my friends were feeling awkward and sad. Not until 2 weeks after the exam that I heard that those that left the exam hall having bad feelings pass and others feeling otherwise like me fail. Then I started changing my feelings :D, Anyway, l still failed. I cried daily continously for almost a week, cos this is the first I will ever fail any exam, to make matter worst, I lost my job 2 weeks before I received the results.

I couldnt afford to register for the october exam but one thing i will change for this exam is time. Most of my friends said it was easier for them cos they started with the multiple choice questions first. If you can afford to go for classes, please do, I was discouraged because of the outreagous prices ($2000).

I wish you luck.

Check out the PRIMED review course. http://www.primededucation.ca/ For Toronto it's about $340.00

Hi,

I'm an IEN and new to this forum.I am planning to write my CRNE Exam in coming October.I am from sudbury,ON and would like to know more about study group. I am attending CRNE preparation course in Toronto School of Health. I am looking for an accomodation for a month so that I can prepare well. Could anyone please guide me to get an accomodation or I can share the rent too.Kindly reply plz.....

i just graduated from ryerson university (toronto), i am writing my crne in oct. according to my university colleagues who passed their exam in june, it is important to prepare for your exam early. most of them recommended:

top canadian rn exam (crne) prep books:

1, canadian registered nurse exam prep guide, 5th edition $74.95

2, mosby's canadian comprehensive review of nursing $72.81

top canadian rn exam (crne) prep courses:

1, u of t (2 days) $350

http://bloomberg.nursing.utoronto.ca/caspp/examprep/crne.htm

2, toronto school of health-----nursing review center (1 month) $950

http://www.torontoschoolofhealth.com/a/rn%20exam.htm

however, my colleagues also mentioned that no matter which book you buy,

“you” are the most important factor for passing the crne.

you need to have a study plan. ex. study 2 hours a day for 2 months.

there you go!

you + hard work = pass

so why are you waiting for? go study now!

good luck to everyone!

For those considering the Toronto School of Health's prep course, you might want to give some thought to the fact that they only advertise on free websites like Kijiji, Craigslist and other similar sites. You might want to ask yourself why that is. (Especially in light of how much they charge for their course with no guarantee of success... read the fine print on their website.)

Hi Janfrn,

As a nurse and a Staff member, how can you be so judgemental without being fully informed regarding this preparation course. I know a lot of NURSES who are working at Toronto General and Toronto Western, and have credited and suggested taking preparatory courses at Toronto School Of Health. They actually have the highest passing rate for the CRNE.

Slandering a name of any preparation class in is not helpful for all those nursing students who are looking for resources and help. The whole idea is to help all nurses to pass their licensing examination.

Sincerely,

Sasha
