For starters, you should google previous CRNE threads on this site. There are pages and pages of very helpful tips and advice. No sense in reiterating information that's already here.

Hello guys, i will be taking the February 2012 CRNE exam. 100+days to go before the exam. I am using:
1. 5th edition CNA Prep Guide
2. Previous CNA Prep Guide
3. Lippincott's (which i am done)
4. Mosby (maybe in the later part)
Im done reading the Compendium of Standards, which basically helps me a lot to know nursing in Ontario. In the previous months, i took some courses in the nearby college to strengthen every aspect of nursing in me, and of course it can add-up on my credentials as future Canadian RN.

Just an FYI, the 4th edition CNA prep guide may not be the best resource as the CNA competency framework changed last year:

I've actually decided to take a preparation course at the Toronto School of Nursing. They do a lot of the prep courses at my University since I've been there, and all my friends have said nothing but good things about them and they've all passed. That said, I've already failed once so I think I need the extra help and guidance. Since you're writing your first time, you may want to just hit the books really hard and take your chances. If your interested in checking them out they're at www.torontoschoolofnursing.com. You can also take a shorter prep course thats offered at http://www.primededucation.ca/. They too have taught a few sessions at my university. Its a weekend course, and I've heard lots of good things about them too, although I don't think they're comprehensive enough for me as they are only 2 days i think. We could also post some questions on here for discussion, which will definitely get our CRNE studying going!
I'm in Barry's Bay Ontario by the way. IF any one lives here and is going to take the CRNE, maybe we should hook up and meet up or something. I don't really like study groups though, but don't mind sharing questions!

the best and easiest place to start is with a search of this site for the literally hundreds of posts offering advice on passing the exam. it will take you all day to read them.

My friend and I both took a prep course with Toronto School of Nursing, but both of us failed.
I missed by 12 points. Now we don't know what to do. We used 2 review books, practice many questions.
I only have one chance left. Feel very helpless. I applied for rescoring my exam but CNO only mailed me another letter after few weeks showing "Fail". There were no other details. I don't know what went wrong. don't know what to do next.
As has been said before, caveat emptor - buyer beware. These review programs do not come with any kind of guarantee, except that they'll happily take your money.
You must analyze where your weaknesses are. Do you have trouble determining what the question is actually asking? Do you have difficulty with multiple-choice questions? Do you struggle with English language comprehension? Is your theoretical knowledge weak? Your clinical knowledge? Are you struggling with therapeutic communication (which as we all know is NOT how people interact with each other in the real world)? By figuring out where you're falling down, you can then work on improving your examination-taking. When you do practice questions, read the rationale given for the correct responses so you can understand how CNA arrived at them. Sometimes it's not about what you know but how you apply it.
Thanks janfrn
I am so depressed, I did not rewrite again in Oct, since I have only one chance, don't want to fail again.
