Hi toyou all!! l am an IEN from Africa and will be writing the Feb exam too.l live in Aldergrove and would like to find out if there is anyone around the area l can share tips with. Well time is running out and l am getting really nervous:eek:!! Thanks to all who have helped with information on studying ie.joanna13, jess1ca.To akardan and lovelivelearn thank you for the emphasis on time management, thats my weakness. To everyone who is also writing this exam, l wish you all the best!! We can only do so much and leave the rest to GOD. The countdown continues...
Couple of people who wrote the exam with me last June, had this strategy to start from single questions instead of case studies. And the logic behind that was to save/gain time by doing single questions first. So if there's any among you guys who consider this strategy, I recommend to reconsider it for couple of reasons. First that although you may save sometime by doing single questions first by the mid of the exam, you'll be exhausted and it's really hard to focus on long case studies. The second one is if you start with case studies first and run out of time by the end of the exam, you'll miss single multiple choices. However, if you two case studies you miss at least four questions(again depending on how many questions you get under one case).
So think of how you're going to do the exam and have a solid strategy for yourself. And do not pain if you got lots of community questions. Apply your nursing process knowledge to all of them.
I would agree with above, Time mgmt in general is absolutely essential. I wrote in october and finished the exam without a problem. Just make sure you read carefully and use basic nursing principles to answer. Do not leave all the case studies last. And the cases are not too bad. Good luck everyone :)
I'm also writing my CRNE next week. EEEK! I can't believe it's almost here. I was wondering if any questions in the CNA prep guide or the CRNE online readiness test actually make it to the exam?
Also, I'm doing the exam in French (it's my first language and I studied in French) but I our ressources are so limited. :-( The only prep guide in French is the CNA one. I've been using the current and previous edition, just so I could have more practice questions. I also read the NCLEX guide and although the strategies are interesting, I found that many of them didn't translate well to the CRNE. I was thinking getting my hands on the Mosby guide, but I wonder if it will just confuse me even more since it's only in English and I'm writing in French. Anyone else in the same situation?
It depends on what works for you, but think of it as a one time deal. I used that last week to review my CPR, nursing process, and the mock exams in the Mosbys. I timed myself with those exams, then I read all the rationales. I studied till 3pm on Oct 5, and relaxed the rest of the day. When I wrote the exam, it was not too bad. Also eat a healthy breakfast, and you can bring a snack in with you.
But I would really recommend doing all the exams, because it helps getting into their mindset. Good luck everyone :)
