I would be writting crne oct 1st 2014, does anyone knows the tips to answering critical thinking questions on the crne, have been doing lots of practice questions, still dont get the critical thinking...

Apply the nursing process and use that to guide your answer. Where are we in terms of the nursing process?
Lets go through the options: provide extra blankets? band aid solution and doesnt address the distress and the high temp rules it out. wrap the axilla and groin? is this a joke answer? notify the dr of a change in status? not enough info to do that. extra fluids? the patient has a temp...mostly likely the answer
that's how I reasoned during the exam
in the real world i see d happening before any of those though

Elevating the head of the bed allows gravity to assist in lung expansion. Try this. Lie down flat on your bed and take the deepest breath you can. Take note of the effort required and how much you expand your chest. Then sit up. Wait a minute or two, straighten your spine then take the deepest breath you can. Again take note of the effort required and how much you expand your chest.
Silverdragon102 gives the correct order of intervention. Oxygen by itself isn't going to decrease the subjective feeling of dyspnea so it's not the best FIRST intervention. Calling the doctor without doing something first to make the patient feel better is also not the best FIRST intervention. As for the Lasix, you need an order for that.
