CPNRE - January 11th, 2012

World Canada CRNE

Published

Without talking about specific material from the exam of course, discuss how you found the exam? Difficulty level? Did the CPNRE prep manual/predictor test compare to the exam itself?

Also, feel free to post results here, when they arrive of course!

This is also the first writing of the "new" CPNRE. Prior to yesterdays writing, the exam was 8 hours long, divided into 2 booklets, rather than 4 hours and 1 booklet. As far as the content and difficulty level of this exam compared to those prior, I'm not sure if that changed as well.

I personally found the exam to be a bit more difficult than the practice exam in the CPNRE prep guide, as well as the online predictor test. I scored %95-%100 on the predictor tests, which means it concluded I have a 95-100 % chance of passing the CPNRE. I found the answers in the prep guide and the predictor test to be fairly obvious, where as on the actual CPNRE, I read a lot of questions, thought I knew the answer before looking at the available choices, but once seeing the options I wasn't so sure anymore.

Through my PN course I averaged a mixture of high 70s and low 80s during finals but I must say, I have no idea how I did on this exam. It's really one of those exams where I either did extremely well, or failed miserably. At least that's how it feels!

I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope we all get that PASS letter in the mail!

Keep us posted & share your thoughts here! :)

Hi Geduld, I think your in a good position if this is your first time writing. You still have two tries to go, so you really have to just add to the knowledge that you've gained. That said, you have to have faith in yourself as you haven't even got your results yet. Don't worry so soon, and just wait for your letter. I failed twice and to be honest with you was completely heart broken. I was totally in your position. I passed on my final attempt, so there is hope. I took a prep course at the Toronto School of Nursing, and I really think that helped me better prepare. The nurses that teach there are fanatastic, and really helpful. I personally have a learning disability, and my instructor would stay after class with me after everyone left and help me with some of the things I didn't quite understand. If you took a course already, you are ahead of the game. I also took a two day preparation course at my college. I think you just have to be positive, and wait for your results. IF you end up having to write the exam again, its not the end of the world, you just have to work harder.

i am not being mean here. i know most Canadians are very nice. i love Canada as much as i love the country where i came from. the only problem is that some of my co-workers in the nursing home where i work as a special care aide are just treating me like crap. i have been bullied for a number of times. they think that i am ignorant and knows nothing about nursing. my ideas are always ignored and worse is, they always think that being a nurse from a 3rd world country is nothing but a joke here in Canada. and so i was up for a challenge. i told everyone in my workplace that i will write CPNRE without reading any review materials. i just spent my days working my ass so hard and even picking up overtime shifts. it was my pride at stake here. Now that I PASSED CPNRE, i just proved it to them that my educational background is not a joke. and being a nurse in a 3rd world country is as noble as being a nurse in Canada.

Good for you!!!! hold your head up high when you walk into work, you did it :) congratulations!

I am so happy for you. You have persevered and opportunities are unlimited. You are now entering a new stage of your life!

thanks! hopefully next year i'll be able to challenge the RN exam as well. i just need to go back to school for 8 months before i become eligible to write the CRNE.

Hey Josephine, would you mind posting the passing grade? It would be on the letter that said you were unsuccessful. I am sorry to hear about this. I know how it feels. This January writing was my second time around. I also found it to be very tricky. I also sruggled through the one in septermber as well. I wish you the best of luck in May.

Hey everyone i just got off the phone with CNO and they said that the exam results were mailed out TODAY!!!

GOOD LUCK!

Yup. The CNO said exam results for Ontario were mailed out today.

Good luck everyone!

I should get mine by monday......Northern Ontario here. My predictions ''fail''...been so stressed lately. I don't even know what to feel anymore.

same here, northern ontario...should be a stressful weekend!

I'm in Southern Ontario (Niagara) but I doubt I'll get the results tomorrow, so this should be a long, stressful weekend!

Good Luck everyone!!! The stress of waiting and not knowing sure does take it's toll. Having to wait another weekend is aweful! I know in our chosen profession we are suppose to be patient, but this is stretching me to my limits.
