CPNRE - January 11th, 2012

Published

Without talking about specific material from the exam of course, discuss how you found the exam? Difficulty level? Did the CPNRE prep manual/predictor test compare to the exam itself?

Also, feel free to post results here, when they arrive of course!

This is also the first writing of the "new" CPNRE. Prior to yesterdays writing, the exam was 8 hours long, divided into 2 booklets, rather than 4 hours and 1 booklet. As far as the content and difficulty level of this exam compared to those prior, I'm not sure if that changed as well.

I personally found the exam to be a bit more difficult than the practice exam in the CPNRE prep guide, as well as the online predictor test. I scored %95-%100 on the predictor tests, which means it concluded I have a 95-100 % chance of passing the CPNRE. I found the answers in the prep guide and the predictor test to be fairly obvious, where as on the actual CPNRE, I read a lot of questions, thought I knew the answer before looking at the available choices, but once seeing the options I wasn't so sure anymore.

Through my PN course I averaged a mixture of high 70s and low 80s during finals but I must say, I have no idea how I did on this exam. It's really one of those exams where I either did extremely well, or failed miserably. At least that's how it feels!

I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope we all get that PASS letter in the mail!

Keep us posted & share your thoughts here! :)

Hi guys, check this out!!!!!!!

So basically the test is valid and no one can really blame failing on the change of format...too bad they did not say the percentage of students who passed the exam. Results will probably come this Monday fingers crossed

Hmm, interesting but I don't believe this document correctly reflects the bigger picture. Yes, 98.5% of candidates may have completed the exam, but did they complete it with enough time to properly read and answer each question? Especially towards the end of the exam when the 1-hour left mark was announced. I know I began to rush through the questions rather than continuing at the same pace, in order to reach the end of the book. I'm sure many people reacted in that same way as well.

I see some valid points in this document, but at the end of the day, the # of people who completed the exam doesn't necessarily mean it was completed with the proper attention to detail because of the time limit.

well, if that document gave us anything, at least we now know there were 20 experimental questions, making the exam out of 180.

Hi Insomniac-88

Yes, I completely agree with you. Numbers mean nothing to me. I know I could have done better than that if I had more time and visible clock on the wall:(

I would still like to know how many people actually passed not completed the exam.

Let's hope we all passed, so we don't have to go through this hell again!

Yes, they came up with pretty high numbers there, but it's not really what people want to know.

Exactly, a percentage of candidates who were successful compared to those who were not, then comparing that to previous writings would be a valid comparison in relation to this time limit problem. Frankly, all of the information in this document doesn't mean much at all.

Do you guys have any idea which questions were experimental? The last 20 or there is no way of knowing?

there's no way of knowing, I'd imagine they're all mixed in, but you never know.

Never heard of the experimental questions being "released". Just doesn't happen.

Try and keep this thought in mind, the vast majority that write the exam achieve the PASS letter. You studied, you completed clinical time and the final placement.

Think about it, you've already demonstrated that you can perform the job. An 8 hour shift can be a living hell, that you will repeat 100s of times in your working life.

For the vast majority of PNs, the CPNRE is a once in a lifetime experience of hell.

I don't know what to think about this evaluation. I mean is this a good thing? I still think I bombed this regardless. I think I've lost all hope. How is this affecting everyone? Do you feel as if as though you may have a chance at this?....ugh I just feel even more stressed out now.
