CPNRE - January 11th, 2012

World Canada CRNE

Without talking about specific material from the exam of course, discuss how you found the exam? Difficulty level? Did the CPNRE prep manual/predictor test compare to the exam itself?

Also, feel free to post results here, when they arrive of course!

This is also the first writing of the "new" CPNRE. Prior to yesterdays writing, the exam was 8 hours long, divided into 2 booklets, rather than 4 hours and 1 booklet. As far as the content and difficulty level of this exam compared to those prior, I'm not sure if that changed as well.

I personally found the exam to be a bit more difficult than the practice exam in the CPNRE prep guide, as well as the online predictor test. I scored %95-%100 on the predictor tests, which means it concluded I have a 95-100 % chance of passing the CPNRE. I found the answers in the prep guide and the predictor test to be fairly obvious, where as on the actual CPNRE, I read a lot of questions, thought I knew the answer before looking at the available choices, but once seeing the options I wasn't so sure anymore.

Through my PN course I averaged a mixture of high 70s and low 80s during finals but I must say, I have no idea how I did on this exam. It's really one of those exams where I either did extremely well, or failed miserably. At least that's how it feels!

I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope we all get that PASS letter in the mail!

Keep us posted & share your thoughts here! :)

Hi everyone. So I took the exam in January as well. I also took the exam in September. I found the exam very hard both times, and I feel like it is very hard to tell if I passed or not? I also didnt feel like that was nearly enough time. I used the predictor tests, and the 4th edition of the CPNRE prep guide. I found both of them a waste of time and money. I was actually just wondering...does anyone know if employers find out if we passed before we do? I am on a temporary LOA from my job since I failed the september write, but I was told today from one of the other nurses that I worked with, that I am on the next schedule with scheduled shifts...I am not sure what this means, and if maybe my boss knows already? I havent gotten the letter yet either, and I am DREADING it!! Good luck to everyone!I hope you all did great!

hi lindsay22

from previous blogs that I've read regarding your question, we get the results and its our responsibilty to inform our employer if we failed our exam, they also get a letter in the mail stating that your temp will be revoked but that's not until after you recieved your results. It also takes about a week or 2 for your name to be removed from the CNO find a nurse website if you failed the exam. I'm also in the same situtation, I was offered so many opportunities with a full time job offer, finished my orientation, benefits, and now on the schedule full time, I just feel like its a waste of time bcuz I'm most certain I bombed the test, but only time will tell. Good luck to you.

Thanks for your reply spygurl2012...I am just so confused about it, because I had told them that I will contact them when I get my results? I havent been on the schedule since October when I left, and now I am back on it? I think I am just getting my hopes up, even though I am trying not too. Uggh, this waiting is the worst.

Hi Josephine. Sorry to hear about your results. I'm hoping they change this format for the next writing, in May. They only write 3x per year so this is why you must wait until May.

What was the passing mark for the exam on your letter?

So sorry to hear that. The Jan exam is really really challenging.

Good luck for the next exam.
