Per tge EC website, it states that the cpne application takes 2 months to process and when done your test ate will be 5-8 months away.... For an estimate of 7-10months?? Is this right??
Excelsior suggests you study for at least 8 weeks. For me I think that is totally ridiculous and I will end up just glancing at the info a few times in the first 4-5 weeks and then spend 2-3 weeks actually studying as I am genetically programed to do things under pressure or something... Remember if you put it too soon you can reschedule for a later date but be aware of the deadlines involved in rescheduling.
~Best wishes

You're like me....that's exactly what I did....I'm a total procrastinator but it works for me!
Anyone know an answer for this ?::
For example: If i put in my app on may1st with a test date of july25th and am willing to take cancel on short notice in NPAC - whatif the cancel was in may15th for example?? Id HAVE to turn it down to get more time to study, but would I stay on a cancel list??
When I get there, assuming I complete things this month. I am going to put my ready date as mid july or early august. I am hoping to go to Albany, NY as it seems to have lots of dates and the least complaints. They seem to all be fair. I am really hoping for Albany but will take any NY location just the same. I crave to be done as I'm quickly getting burnt out. Two more I can do it. Anyway. I will be following the advice of MissingMyErica and doing the online workshop to ensure my care planning is up to date and doing lots of practice everyday, I will also be getting Rob's DVD and will watch/listen to it repeatedly while playing with my little monster and studying.
I am still not sure but I think my mom and 8.5month old is going to accompany me which means I ill be renting a car. I will make it a bus depending on how many of us are there so that can save some people taxi fare some of the time. I am sooo excited/nervous/burnt out for all of us.
I have a tiny baby but I don't want to deal with anyone else's tiny baby... I like peds and all but I dunno just not going to be my favorite part of the exam.

If you can leave your Mom and baby at home, try to do that. I cannot express to you how stressful this weekend is. The first night you will need total quiet to concentrate on your first care plan and assignments. I didn't talk to my family at all during that weekend. I seriously would come home and lock myself in my bedroom to go over my stuff. Have you considered York, PA? I tested there and it was great. The CA and CE's were great and really laid back....definitely wanted you to pass!
I was thinking about leaving her but it seems to me like it would add more stress. I have not been farther than an hours drive from my baby ever. To go from California to NY without her adds a bit of stress, to know she doesn't take bottles unless she is starving (ie about 6 hours later) adds another stressor, and to know she sleeps with me and won't sleep at night without me (we tried once and I had to go get her) adds more stress. We will have seperate rooms(my mom and I) so that I can have quiet. But I have never been away from my baby for more than 8 hours and even then I saw her on my lunch. I even get texts when I am working so that I can have pics and updates on what she is doing and how she is doing. Though North Carolina and Texas are on the short list and they are both closer to NY so it may be less of a distance and i might feel more comfortable. But as it stands now I am leaning more towards taking them.
York, PA: I chose NY due to the airfare I can get to go to NY from CALI. It's more expensive to get me to PA than NY...

I am hoping for Albany or Queens, but I have heard good things about Utica and Saratoga Springs also... just thinking that it would be much easier to travel by air/taxi at the other sites. It would be cool if some of us could get the same date and location and room together! Still waiting for CLEP to send my results.. but it's only been 2 days... my advisor said she'd keep an eye out for me so hopefully it will be there by next week :-)
I hope I get a peds substitute, LMAO. Peds makes me so nervous! I can hardly get my toddler to sit still long enough to change his diaper.
I talked to a girl who figured out how to put Rob on her ipod and made Robtunes out of them and listened to them all day. I am definately planning on doing that!!!

I would take Sheri's online workshop and give yourself two months of studying and practicing. You really don't need two whole months, but it's better than cramming towards the end. I took Sheri's online workshop and her in-person workshop. Both were great, but I honestly wish I would have saved all the money spent on travel, hotel, food, etc and just gone with the online. I passed with no repeats in March of this year and I'm waiting to take my boards. The FCCA is nothing, basically careplanning and delegation. It took me one afternoon to complete, so don't sweat it. It's really easy and I don't know why people make it out to be this big mystery. I was so nervous and when I got it I kept looking at it to see if I was missing something! Schedule your CPNE as soon as you are FCCA eligible. The sooner you get this thing done the better. Good luck!
