Glove up

Site check/gloves off/sanitize

Skin turgor

Check tubes/fluids infusing w/kardex

Assess pain/ comfort (if assigned)

Record info

Thanks for any input you can give.

You cannot check the tubing/solution with gloved hands or hands that have been contaminated.

So erin do you think I would be able to glove up,check skin turgor, check iv site, gloves off, wash hands, then check tubing.

Actually everyone. When I looked back over my mnemonic, I just realized that I totally left out a letter.

Here is the after:

Wont I Be Glad I Put On Two Dry Socks Fast

W-ash hands

I-ntroduce yourself

B-and Check

G-love

I-nspect IV an I/0's

P-inch skin

O-ff Gloves

T-ubing for kinks

D-rip rate

S-Solution

Sorry for the confusion. I must have taken off my gloves before touching the tubing because I followed my mnemonics to the tee. So much for my help.

Yes!! Just make sure you wash your hands prior to the initial glove.

I'm sure this all depends on the CE you get..

Sorry to keep asking questions just don't want to miss anything, so after I check the id band I need to sanitize or wash hands again or should the initial hand wash when entering the room be sufficient. Thanks everyone!

To play it safe, I would gel again! The faculty didn't specify that we have to, but CDC regulations are to wash hands before/after each glove use.

I do this at work, but I carry my own sanitizer in my pocket. I'm hoping my testing center has some right in the rooms.

Thanks Erin, I think I am gonna gel before and after because I would hate to fail for something so simple.

Yes. But again, don't worry ... you will have studied until your brain can't hold another thought by the time you go for your CPNE. First things first! :)

Studied until your brain can't hold anything and your stomach! I think I've ate 2 dozen cookies since Saturday and managed to eat 2 lbs of gummy dinosaurs since yesterday.. huh, I think I'll diagnose myself with "Ineffective coping r/t anxiety as evidenced by increased consumption of junk food."
