Counting down

Published

Can I just say I can't wait for fall to get here! :yeah: I bought my scrubs today and as I cross more things off my to-do list I get more and more excited. I had to come share because I know y'all would appreciate it - the rest of my family is probably tired of hearing it! haha

I am so excited too and ordering my school scrubs in two days!

wow you just gave me a visual about buying my student uniforms! man they were so ugly-teal snap down top and white pants. I remember debating forever on what kind of stethoscope to get and couldn't believe I had one when I finally bought it!

congrats!

Haha. I was pleasantly surprised that ours are not as ugly as they could be. They are all white but they aren't terrible. They are bad but not terrible! haha

yeah it was super awesome-first week of clinicals had an old male pt reach up and rip open my top... all the snaps popped open, ever since I wear tank tops underneath my top, even with regular scrub tops!! 15 years later I still remember him!

That's great! I am counting down, too! I've worked hard to get accepted into the program and now that I have, I have mixed emotions. Anxious and excited! I've gotten my titers and TB skin tests done, I'll be doing the background check and drug screening on the date the school has specified. I'll probably get my scrubs pretty soon. They're not ideal, but not a terrible color either. Congratulations on being accepted! I'm happy I've found someplace that others know what I'm talking about. My family and friends just nod politely, but have no clue. Haha.

Is is August yet?

I just finished my first year of my ADN program, and I remember when I first got my letter in for the Fall '11. It was the summer time and I saw the letter was from my school. Every inch of my being said this was the letter I had been waiting years for; as I sat down to open the letter, my breaths got shorter and my rate got higher. It was like I was punched by an invisible friend. I called my mom who was in the Philippines at the time to tell her the news, and I couldnt stop crying. I have never felt that way before, crying without feeling pain. It was amazing.

Now that I'm reading these acceptance posts from the incoming class, I cant help but relive my special day. I know you guys are all super excited, and I wish you all the best! Nursing school is unlike anything else, in my case, there is no such thing as being ready for whats to come. You study hard, you manage your time, you cope, and you deal with whatever gets thrown your way the best you can. Use critical thinking over memorizing.

I have about 18 sticky notes on my pc wallpaper of things I need to do and things to check off. I get excited everytime I complete something, and delete it. :yeah: I feel like its bringing me closer and closer to school. So, I know exactly how you feel. :lol2: I ordered and tried on my uniforms at my last school meeting. I still need to get nursing shoes, my nurse kit, books, a watch, bag/backpack (maybe a roller), school supplies, and deal with some more financial aid stuff. I have dates and times of things to do and places to go, too. I am so excited. :)

Good luck everyone.

undoubtedly, this brings fond memories of the days that i purchase my first set of (cmmm cleaning my throat) white nursing uniform, i still recall the night before i spread my entire outfit out on my bed and check to see if the shoes were polished enough, the belt fit correctly, my id badge was visible plus my "ben casey" top was ironed to perfection with enough starch. in addition, i checked that all of my accoutrements that were necessary to use for any particular procedure like my stethoscope, my caliper, my watch with a 2nd. hand, my trauma scissors, and my two pens one red & one black along with my shiny silver rn caduceus were all where in order. needless to say, i passed inspection by my instructor known as no nonsense drill sarge nurse. wishing all of you the best in all of your future endeavors...aloha~
